Also keep in mind every tire has a different measured width relative to whatever it actually says in the numbers in the size. They can vary a lot. His tires being 205/50-17 might size and stretch differently than yours, if theyre not the same brand and model.

40 series not 50, but the falken 615k's run wide...I know.

205/40/17 on 8.25" wheel.

And...another one.

Thanks! I took a gamble ordered them without actually seeing them in person and it turned out quite well. Really like the fitment. Except that they couldn't fit my Project Kics lug nuts which costed me $200..... They were advertised to fit aftermarket wheels so I'm a bit choked because of that.

anyone know what offset I would need to run a bassett wheel on a 2nd gen legacy wagon with stock suspension +camber bolts front and rear? I want the 15x8's but I don't have a clue what to order for backspacing. bassett uses backspacing. factory offset is +55mm. Edited by diesel2wd

Backspacing is the opposite of offset. 8" width is 203mm, making the center line 101.5mm so a +55 offset means that the mounting face is 55mm closer to the outside lip than the inside lip from the centerline. Therefore, it has a 156.5mm/6.1" backspace.

So you would probably want a backspace between 135-150mm/5.5"-6" for an 8" wide wheel.

ok. thanks. read and reread different threads on offset but no one ever explained it as "opposite". they max at 5" of backspacing. so that would stick out more? sounds like im looking at 15x8 with 5" backspacing. Edited by diesel2wd

Have you tried asking a tech what the offset of that wheel is?

Offset and backspacing can be different from wheel to wheel, i.e., two different wheels with same offset will have different backspacing.

well that's just plain confusing. and "ask a tech"? what kind of tech? if you tell me to ask someone from a place like town fair tire I might have to slap you. they know nothing an half ass everything. I used to work at one, I know.

You said you want a bassett wheel. You can contact them and speak with a technician who may be able to enlighten you as to the offset of each wheel in which you are interested.

8" wide wheel is more like 9" from lip to lip

You will need that measurement to calculate backspace

You are correct sir. I forgot that backspace is lip to lip when offset is bead seat to bead seat.

Just slapped these bad boys on last weekend. Still wet from their first wash. 19x8.5 et40 Niche Targa with 235/35/19 W tires. Everything else cosmetic is still stock for now. I'm currently in the middle of a Stage 2 Cryotune with stock mufflers (catless UP & DP).

The front and rear rub the fenders on big bumps or fast turns. I'm hoping if I lower it they might behave a little better (more camber, maybe a fender roll).
