Any of you heading to metlife stadium sunday? Also, Stownsend can meet interested parties there.

That would be a hike for me. I'm on the other side of NY state. Thanks for the heads up though.

Crap never did this.

Build date is on the black placard on the bottom right of the drivers door opening, near the bottom of the B pillar.

You should be able to get the in-service date from any service record from the dealer, or just ask them and they can look it up for you. In-service could be prior to purchase though, if it was demoed at all.

There seems to be some serious discrepancies between the build dates and the production sequence numbers from the vins. I find it hard to believe that Subaru randomly picked sequence numbers

The information in the matrix is only as good as the info supplied by each owner. I see 2 discrepancies and would attribute those to reporting errors from the owners. I cannot verify each VIN and build date.

I don't know how far the discrepancies are off by & obvious typo’s can happen, but if they are off by a month they may not be incorrect.

I have a limited edition vehicle and the build logs from the manufacturer were obtained. I helped enter the build logs for a few hundred vehicles into a database. For each VIN I mostly enter dates, engine & ECM sequence numbers, but the log did have column for repair and notes section. I was surprised by how many vehicles were dropped from production for various repairs. I assume quality control flagged them. The some of the repairs times delayed the ship date as much as 3-4 week compared to similar VIN’s. Anyways don't make the assumption that all VIN's are have pass quality control and shipped in order.

But would that affect the build date stamped on the same metal plate as the Vin?. I understand shipment delays... But that build date on the chassis, wouldn't that correspond to the chassis build date, not the date it rolls off the line into the yard?... Well I guess it depends when that gets printed and put on.

:confused::confused::confused:

Hmmm.. Apparently its up to the manufacturer to use digits 10-17 however they wish... So it could in fact be random or there could be blocks used for options packages, or even numbered cars get 10 more HP, multiples of 3 get a clicking sound in the right rear, multiples of 7 get under tightened hose clamps on the intercooler coupler.

ftfy

Also from my experience in manufacturing the number plate (VIN plate what have you) goes on last. often it will follow what ever item it defines and get filled out along the way.
