COBB tunning

Recommended Posts

Whats up folks.

My 05 LGT MT is being delivered to me in a week. I can't wait.

I test drove an 05 Auto GT at carmax 21,1998 price tag. It was awesome, but for the same price plus a shipping fee Carmax was willing to send me the same car with leather, a sunroof, and the all-mighty 5 speed, ( a major perk for me, wait.. no, the MT was a necessity.)

To the point.

What can I get from stage 1 Cobb tunning? Really?

I will pay near 700$ but I need to know if I will notice anything.

I read somewhere that it takes the stock GT MT to 290 hp/ 305 ft'lbs torque.

If anyone will confirm this, I'll see no reason not to buy the programmer.

PS: all the diff. maps and stuff are avail. for download for free right?

Congrats on the purchase, and the AP is alot of fun for little $$$. Get it from TDC Tuning, and for basically $50, you'll get a tuned map, besides the provided Cobb maps....

Cobb maps are Free, tuner's maps however, are not.

There are several pre-canned maps that are free yes. I'd follow that path for where it goes.

If you purchase you AP from TDC, or PDXtuning, you are entitled cobbs maps + some of their custom thats for say a different intercooler.

However, once you modifications differ from that path (headers, intake, turbo), that would require custom tuning for new maps which is not free. If you are really good @ tuning, you can get Street tuner(additional 195.00) and tune you own maps to accomadate you adding mods.

As for stage 1, yeah its a good increase, but you'll want stage 2 soon after that.

But what about the hp increase, 290hp/305ftlbs

or does that depend on your tunning/map choice?

I want power

I told you in Post #3 above........ ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Take some inititive and look it up... I don't remember offhand....

There is NO WAY an AP will get you those numbers. I was 195WHP stock. TDC stage one was...oh hell, just check the thread.....

I think those numbers are crank hp and torque. It all depends what conversion method you use, but it's a decent ballpark. But bummer it isn't whp/wtq!

Ich bin echt viel netter, wenn ich nuechtern bin. Echt!

Yes they are "estimated" flywheel hp and torque. Here is Cobb's own chart stating as much. It looks like your dyno result is ~5 whp less Cobb's numbers. Of course you can't really compare dyno numbers from two different dynos at different conditions. With that said your stock number are almost identical to the Cobb's numbers...
