What'd you do to your FIRST Gen. Subaru today?

Recommended Posts

Thats good to know Joe, I'll ask to see if they were sedan or wagon. And yes the rear came around fairly easy. Righr now since I lifted it up with the spacers im not running a rear sway at all and it appears to be handling better. Maybe thats in my head though considering how grippy dedicated snow tires are.

@monkeyposeur....I did completely removed the MAF about 2weeks ago and cleaned it being careful not to touch the element. I did use a small earswab to wipe down the plates. It has helped but holy smokes my gas mileage has taken a tumble over the last month or so.

Have ypu tested or replaced the coolant temp sensor?

I am super paranoid about MAFs since they have given me so much trouble. I recommend you guys get new ones if possible if you are still having hesitation issues, but they will set you back $130.

Thoughts on a manual boost controller??? Thinking of getting one and going up 2psi or so on the stock vf11....good or bad idea?

You'd probably be ok from what I read on bbs iirc, but I'm waiting until I install a tmic to turn it up.

Hi Guys,

First of all, sorry if i'm posting in the wrong place (section)... Well, i've been offered to buy a pair of control arm rear wishbone / bushes originally bought for a 2005 Impreza. Can this fit my 1993 Legacy Wagon? Some pics bellow and the HardRace code is 3 20201 AA030R, but couldn't find in their site.

cheers,

Thiago

It doesn't look to an ALK, just a pillow ball style bushing replacement. They don't have a Legacy specific piece, but this Impreza GC chassis one is likely the same.

These with pillowball

EDIT: Actually they do have 2 different ones available for the BD/BG chassis Legacy, the one I linked above, and this one with hard rubber instead of pillowball.

These with hard rubber. This looks like what you have.

Technically his chassis is BJ, if it makes a difference, though, I don't think it does for those parts. .

finished my front 4 pots. 3 new pistons were required from pitting. on a 1 to ten scale of difficulty I put this at a 2. The sezed pistons were a bear to get out, but the rest was all cleaning , prepping and painting. fun little side winter project

I dusted off the spare 22T and dropped it off at the machine shop to be bored for Wisecos. Stock phase 1 Crank is getting polished. http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn41/henry616/Mobile%20Uploads/17858A9E-60B2-4C55-ACF0-BDD501D678FD_zpswlz1bkaa.jpg

One oil squirter fell out somewhere and the other three almost came out just by looking at them. I'll definitely use locktite when I put them back in. I have a set of spare squirters too. I might rig up something to make sure they are opening around the same psi. http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn41/henry616/Mobile%20Uploads/94B94CD0-A430-452D-81D0-DCEB6F5A9A79_zpso77haqco.jpg

The block had about 165k on it. The mains looked almost new so I'm pretty sure I can use ACL Duraglides or OEMs. http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn41/henry616/Mobile%20Uploads/8FF6E7F7-F2C5-4825-B39B-9BB2FF852B0E_zpsup0axqps.jpg

I'll be replacing the rods with STi rods. But the stockers also looked to be in great shape. http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn41/henry616/Mobile%20Uploads/E00DDB55-7ED1-4499-85A3-97FB2566C180_zpsn9nixxtl.jpg

I'll drop off a set of stock heads to get surfaced and new valve seals when I go to pick up the block. I have two sets so I'll have to dig them out and see which set looks better.

Stock SS downpipe next to the MRT dp. Looks like they join the midpipe at different angles. It's supposed to be a direct fit but will require some welding to the flanges.

Hope I can get it to fit. :)

The split bell mouth plate is a few millimeters too long for a TD04. I'll have to grind it off a bit to get it to mate properly.

A close up of the gap.

Overall the welds could be prettier but looks to be made out of good materials.

Spillage! Pulled my seat to shampoo my new-ish carpet after spilling a large coffee. It smelled like coffee way too much, lol. I use industrial carpet shampoo a coarse brush and a shipped. The carpet cleaning machines generally don't have the vacuum needed. Also looking into strut tower bars and there's a big difference in cheap ones and solid ones. So far these are the best bang for the buck. They use steel and make a great chassis parts http://m.ebay.com/itm/290715265310?nav=SEARCH

^^ I like the Ultra Racing bits as well. Thats probably what I will go with.

Today I installed Prothane sway bar bushings and the Whiteline end link rebuild kit on the 20mm WRX front bar. The Whiteline kit fit way better on the WRX end links because they are wider at the large end than the stock units.

22t block was bored, honed, and decked today. I can't wait to pick it up and see all the nice shiny surfaces. I'll probably drop it in my 95 BK L. I'll get it running with the stock ecu on wastegate pressure, make sure it doesn't leak and turn up the boost. Then probably get a megasquirt setup.

If I found the right first gen wagon I'd drop in that but it's hard to find a clean first gen out here. I've been trying to get my climbing buddy to sell her garage kept 91 but she ain't budging!!!

I've been trying to figure out how to score that shell. I've got a line on an 04 - 05 WRX that's been t-boned that has got all good parts and is rotting away in a coworker's yard. Just need like, 3k to get the whole thing started.
