Great Camera, i had the previous Gen DMC-FZ7 and loved it! Awesome features, light and User Friendly!!

yeah diggin it so far just learning to mess with manual features alot of the preset ones are great too i really love this pinhole setting

thanks those were taken with preset modes on the camera im still learning how to use it. wanna do more stuff with manual mode

Not sure if there is a thread on here for this, but wanted to ask you photo pros a question. I'm looking to get a Nikon D90 and was wondering which kit lense you would recommend. The options are:

 

Nikon D90 with AF-S DX Nikkor 18-105mm f3.5-5.6 G ED VR. for $1298

 

or

 

Nikon D90 with AF-S DX Nikkor 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 G VR. for $1163

 

if I went with the latter I could probably spring for this as well

 

Nikon Lens - AF 50mm f1.8D .

 

ANy suggestion would be a great help

extra $120 i'd get the 18-105mm

 

unless you'll be doing a lot of portraits& what not then get the 50

if your doing portraits or car shooting then get the 2nd one and the 50.

or just buy the 50mm and the 18-105

 

50 cant be that much money ... the canon version is ~$80

nikon 50 1.8 is ~120

 

buy the body only and a 50...and then buy my 18-200VR for $450

yeah ... the 18-200 is awesome. I want to switch to nikon for that ...

^its a great walk around...extremely versatile...

possibly it uses a rear element filter..similar to the fisheye

Too much HDR in some of them, I think. But the shots themselves are nice. Esp. the Palace of Fine Arts. That one looks good.

Whats the usual price on a new 18-200VR and what makes it so good.

 

I'm looking at using the camera for Landscape / family shots / and some sports.

 

I don't really take photos of cars, as mine is never clean

New is ~700. What so good? Well 18mm to 200mm will pretty much cover every focal length ya will need. It's built more solid than the 18-105 and the 18-55.

 

Landscape family and sports. That's such a wide range. Landscape usually people use wide lens. Sports depends on indoor/outdoor. The 18-200 will do all you require but won't do anything particularly well. Good lens to use until you figure out how you shoot then you can get lens to compliment your style.

^with photoshop and contrast and saturation correction (and a little cropping) some of those pics would have been golden,
