Silly
So, I just swapped out my front drive axles, but I only took off my sway bar links, and pulled the ball joint out of my knukle. I left the lower control arm attached. I have to say that I did have to fight with the contol arm wanting to push it's way up, and it was a tight squeeze to flex the CV joint to get the spindle into the hub, but it worked out and seemed pretty easy... Except for the passenger side axle nut that i hammered on with a chisel for 20 minutes, broke 3 1/2 in drives, and a breaker bar on, and hit with a torch repeatedly (drive side wasn't a problem at all). Is there anything anyone can thik of that would seem to make this a bad idea? I shouldn't need an alingment...
I Donated broknindarkagain Posted August 14, 2011 I Donated Share Posted August 14, 2011 You're fine. No alignment needed. I usually bust the lower ball joint and the outer tie rod end from the steering knuckle. It gives you a bit more room to move the knuckle around compared to the way you did it. -broknindarkagain My Current Project - Click Here COME AND TAKE IT "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." I Donated broknindarkagain Posted August 14, 2011 I Donated Share Posted August 14, 2011 No problem. Some people swear by taking the entire control arm loose....I've personally found it easier to bust loose the tie rod and ball joint. I've done hundreds of CVs this way and never once had a problem, -broknindarkagain My Current Project - Click Here COME AND TAKE IT "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."
