Sublimejoe
Getting ready to tackle the task of installing the pedals for my five speed swap. I laid the pedals out and want to run this by you guys before I go any further. The gas pedal looks like its mostly OK, but im a little concerned about the clutch pedal. Its super hard to push the pedal from all the way engaged to all the way disengaged, like the assembly would go flying out of my hands if I wasnt expecting it. I thought maybe it was on there backwards, but there doesnt seem to be a better way to get it in there. http://i.imgur.com/lVSQch1h.jpg http://i.imgur.com/beJFYsDh.jpg Cross posting this in my build thread so I can keep track. monkeyposeur
Any of you nice fellas know where I can download a repair manual? Download the first gen FSM here: http://www.surrealmirage.com/subaru/tech.html Missing a few sections though. Jealous. Looks great. Can't wait to get mine in. Trying to find shift linkage now for five speed swap. Last piece needed for the manual conversion I have a WRX shifter linkage in my shed I don't need if you are interested. I also have a mint WRX pedal assembly that I bought for $100 that I don't need. The shifter linkage came from a JDM 5MT that I bought to swap into my WRX and I had an STi short throw installed already. If you wanted to use the WRX pedal assembly you would need to use a WRX or STi clutch master and slave to make it work. s2baru
Found a sweet 1owner 93 wagon. 132k original miles hoping to look at it today. Only drawback is its an auto but should make a killer daily
monkeyposeur
^The 4EAT isn't too bad. Once you do the power mode mod it's pretty cool. Revs up to 6k between shifts.
s2baru
Gotcha gotcha. I don't think I'll be hitting 40mph that quick in it my commute is about 5 miles daily. I don't mind drivng my truck but I got that itch for a nice wagon. Looking at two 05'lgt wagons but I don't think I want to get back in a payment. Everyone tells me I shouldn't have sold my SS but I didn't lose any money on it despite putting 28k on it in just over a year. Sublimejoe
It's me, everyone's favorite crossposter! Took this out and cleaned it up. Needed to take it out for manual conversion anyway: http://i.imgur.com/5RG9Wwwh.jpg It's in really good shape aside from some discoloration, and the armrest is beat up. One question I have though, is the shifter surround different between the auto and manual?

Sublimejoe
Damn. Maybe I'll try that. I need to send the armrest out to get wrapped anyway, maybe I'll throw the surround in with it and have them make something. Thanks so much the info!!
Sublimejoe
Shift linkage showed up today. Looks like I need to order another piece :| Here is a picture of what I need, the gold plate: http://i.imgur.com/yRdhmBt.png I searched through the parts sites and I can't find it. Can I just cut the center out of my automatic plate, or does anything bolt to the manual specific plate?
s2baru
Might be buying back my old SS!!! Owner of it now is having second thoughts of owning 3project cars. Crossing my fingers to make it work out.

Smithcraft
ABS light came on on the way to work. My first thought was that it better not be the ABS pump/modulator! My second thought was to check if I still had a bottle of brake fluid in the car. My third thought was Part Out! I shut it down at a red light and started it back up and the ABS light went off! I checked the fluid level and the master cylinder is still quite full. I looked at the front of the pump/modulator (which is where it usually starts leaking from) and it was dry. So, I'm chalking it up to a random bad connection... SC 1994 Legacy MI 2008 Legacy GT specB 2023 Crosstrek Limited
Sublimejoe
I knew something wasn't right. Turns out I have a hydraulic clutch pedal assembly, but I need a cable one! Damn it! Anyone have one?
livinon2wheels
My old legacy wagon just tripped 194k miles last week and I am chasing gremlins. Check engine light issues...replaced the 25 year old knock sensor and that helped the way it runs, have to replace the charcoal canister purge valve next, its on order. Meanwhile, going to get a leak down test done on the engine tomorrow to determine if it is healthy enough to doctor up a pair of heads and do a top end job on it. meanwhile I have a new dash cover to install and the usual maintenance stuff. its a daily thing until I get it back in really good shape. Sublimejoe
Since I am going with a hydraulic clutch setup now I figure I may as well go all out. I am seriously considering purchasing a Chase Bays brake booster eliminator to get rid of that huge unsightly brake booster. I had always heard some negative feedback when I've mentioned this in the past, but I've been doing some research and it seems like this setup works really well, even for race cars. Thoughts? http://www.chasebays.com/chase-bays-brake-booster-eliminator-subaru/

Sublimejoe
Today I started to remove my OEM non turbo crossmember from my Legacy to replace with a JDM WRX turbo crossmember. While I was sitting there looking at the two of them side by side I see that they are different where the control arm attaches. Am I going to need to get WRX control arms now? monkeyposeur
In case anyone is curious, here is a log I took this morning of how much hp you can get on a 22T/205 hybrid @ 4200 ft. http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn41/henry616/Mobile%20Uploads/3892D6C3-F27C-41B6-B1AD-48402607EA8C_zps0yuqy9q3.png I'm still working with my tuner so this isn't the final revision but suffice to say I am pretty damn psyched. Sublimejoe
false alarm attributed to user error. Tranny is in, shifter all connected and feels nice. Nice power curve, eh? Very nice figures there! Is that crank HP? What fuel, Injectors, ecu, turbo and compression are you running there? I'm about drop some 850cc injectors in and run 19-20psi on my stock block ej20g. The closest awd dyno is a couple hours away so all I can do is road tune it.
