Installed the Tein Comfort Sports

I had the Comfort Sports installed today. These things are sweet!

The car handles much better- things are a lot tighter, but the ride is not going to loosen your fillings. We set them at 6 from the Softest setting and used the ride height set out of the box.

I took a friend for a ride who has an 06 STI with Megans and he did not believe that these were coilovers. He was really impressed. The car rides amazing!

Believe the Lexus guys - these coilovers are a great compromise between handling and comfort. I was purposely going over manholes and bumps to see if they would thud , but they absorbed all the bumps. On my way home there are certain spots along the road that I was worried about and the car handled them just like as if it were the stock suspension.

I am going to let them settle this week and later on in the week I am going to get the car aligned and corner balanced.

One important thing I forgot to say- Thanks Boostjunkie for getting these for me. Paul -you're awesome!!

How much room for adjustment do you have on height? Is the rear lower?

The back is a little lower- I am going to let it settle for a couple of days.

There is a lot of room for adjustments

Front range is -.6" to -1.6"

Rear range is +1.2" to -1.6"

I will probably end up lowerin the front a little.

lol +1

now i dont know if im saving for KW's or these :(

I wish I could help you guys- there's nobody I know up here that has the KWs for a comparison.

One thing about the Teins is that the spring mounts are metal and the body of the Coilover has a different finish than the Flexes or Basics. It seems to be more durable.

One thing I have to say after driving around today is that the Comfort Sports are smooth- Speed Bumps are not an issue.

do you have sways?

On certain cars if you have a coilover suspension they recommend you run as little a sway as possible (or no sway, even)

If I dont need sways then I can justify buying these.

I have the KWs with whiteline f&r adj. sway bars and I have not had any problems or heard of a problem from having sways.

butt-two things:

1) I'd like you to comment on ride quality AFTER they settle (because they will stiffen a bit)

2)If the top mounts are steel I can't see how they wouldn't bang when hitting bumps...the only coilovers that don't make much noise have rubber mounts or retain the stock mounts....

The Tein CS (comfort series) for the lexus had rubber mounts so they were softer than any other coilover but still stiff from what I gathered due to the high spring rate compression

In reply to your comments......

I have now put on over 400 km since they have been installed. They have stiffened slightly, however I have not adjusted the dampening from the initial setting of 6 from soft on both front and rear. The ride is still comfortable- not jarring or bouncy. I drive to downtown Toronto for work- to say the least the roads leave a little bit to be desired. They have yet to bang even with 18" wheels. This weekend I am going to mess with the dampening - I'll try it a little softer- 4 from softest setting-- and also try them stiffer.

The design of the Comfort Sports is different from their other Coilovers. The inside of the Front tophat is rubber- where it is mounted, while the rear has a rubber ring on top.

Here are some pictures of them.

I am also running a rear AVO 20mm RSB with mounts.

My FLEX's sat the same way as yours when i first put them on, so I lowered the front a little and now it looks perfect ;)
