sgeorge
Before everyone tells me to search, for some reason the search function isn't working. I just get a blank webpage. Check engine light starts blinking after hard acceleration up to 60, continues to blink for 10-15 seconds then goes off. When the blinking started i shoved the clutch to the floor and let the engine return to idle while i coasted to a stop. The car was cut off while i was at lunch then driven back to the office without any CEL'S. No performance mods to the car except accessport, i am running the cobb 93 octane stage 1 map with the latest updates.
rao
You need to pull the codes; a blinking CEL is nothing to mess with. Rob IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR CAR YOU SHOULD NEVER DRIVE IT
sgeorge
Alright, I will check in the parking lot before i leave work.
sgeorge
Will the code still be in the system if it stopped blinking and went off completely though?
rao
It should be. Rob IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR CAR YOU SHOULD NEVER DRIVE IT
rc0032
Is the CEL light blinking or the cruse light blinking and the CEL solid? Im here for catastrophic failure.
sgeorge
CEL light blinking. and now that i have sufficiently wasted my afternoon reading all the posts about turbos going bad, i'm going to go connect the little white connectors and see what the hell is wrong. Thanks for the hopes of catastrophic failure RC. At least i am still under warranty.
meier motor sports
i bet he finds nothing with the ap! i had a similar issue. with heavy acceleration the cel would flash and then go off again. car drove fine. codes would indicate a misfire on all cylinders. its been discussed. meier motor sports
i duno. you can try to read the codes with the AP itself through the OBD2 port
sgeorge
No codes with the AP... Meier, how did you resolve the problem?

rc0032
You and MMS have different issues. Go buy a code reader or go to PebBoys and get the code read. Then find out what it means and report back. If you uninstall the AP (I would before taking it to a dealer) the CEL is cleared. Now if its truly catastrophic failure the code will come back and no worries. If its a fluke then give it a few days and re-install the AP. meier motor sports
lol nothing ever came of my flashing CEL. i actualy re read the post. what a waste. it didnt solve anything at all. it had more links to more confusing stuff. blah! like rich said, insted of guessing what it might be go to pepboys or whatever and get them to scan the code. i have gotten different codes with the ap and with an OBD2 scanner. rc0032
If it were me. Clear it see if it comes back. If it comes back uninstall the AP and wait to get it again then take it to the dealer. The de-bugging doc say after 2 consecutive faults then go into a long list of de-bugging.
sgeorge
So i either have to get autozone to clear it or i disconnect the battery and step on the brake?
rc0032
The Ap will do it...connect...clear CEL...restart car.
1-3-2-4
From what I understand was the CEL blinking while you floored it? in most cases it's the misfire happening in "real-time" I used to get that a bunch of time switching to those crappy Bosh platinum spark plugs.
