Six_wheeler
Hello everyone, I'm about to get my new Legacy 3.0R in a few days. I've read somewhere that unlike other cars, Subaru engines take a long time to be fully broken in, something to the order of 10,000km. Is that true, and what precautions/measures should I take during this period? TIA, Shady

Garandman
I log all fuel use and the average is still going up after 10,000 miles, so ya, they seem to take a long time to break in. Who Dares Wins スバル

Six_wheeler
I never got the chance. I actually haven't driven the Ty more than a couple hundred kms. I've had it for six months now, and it's been in the shop for five of them. That's why I'm mulling unloading it. I've had everything replaced (and I do mean everything - including the ECM) and it still hardly runs. I think somebody jynxed it Shady
Six_wheeler
Seems you mentioned something about the brakes and then deleted the message. My Ty's brakes are actually very good, although the ABS seems to be dead, which is a known problem with Ty's. But we're veering way off topic here
red beast
where does your 3.0r come from, Japan? here in the US the paint job is too thin. and our outback 3.0r's are are higher. i have the jdm rims (only set in the US) http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-10/423426/RB3.jpg
Six_wheeler
You know what? I haven't checked the origin of the car. I'll do that tomorrow. The only Outbacks over here come with the 2.0 four-banger. Not much fun there.
