Fog Light Bulb Replacement Guide - Legacy GT 2008

Hi everyone,

I want to replace my 2008 Legacy GT stock bulbs with yellow bulbs. I bought a set based on recommendations from another thread but I have two requests.

1 - A step-by-step guide on how to replace the fog lights. My research leads to to believe front bumper removal is involved (I have no experience in removing it). And I have no lift or ramps to do this.

2 - I used lamin-X yellow film as a lazy option for the yellow look but the plastic melted and burnt onto the lens. I removed it and there is a lot of crud from bugs to some plastic remnants. Is there a way to clean off the lens?

Thanks,

There is a little splash guard underneath the fog lights. Take that down and you can get to the fogs to change the bulbs.

As for cleaning off the lens you could try Goo Gone or something like that.

Thanks for the recommendation. I got into my driver-side fog light bulb through the top by moving the washer fluid but I got the wrong bulbs. Apparently, this is an issue with the instruction manual and some of the threads. They take 9006 and not H3's so I am back to the drawing board.

I picked up Osram H3 Gold/yellow. Is there an alternative for the 9006 for a yellow fog bulb?

Thanks for the recommendations. Have digging around both on this forum and literally on the car, I came to these conclusions:

1 - I can access the driver-side through the top by unscrewing the washer fluid top.

2 - I can access the passenger-side as instructed by popping off the mud guard.

3 - Contrary to some threads, these take 9006 and not H3 bulbs. It is a shame because I ordered them from Candlepower which is a local pick up for me. I am going to try out the Nokya Yellow 9006 as recommended.

Thanks!

I got rid of my hyper yellows and installed some really bright LEDs (VLED LMZ 4500lm) with Amber LaminX. The amber comes through has a deep yellow with the LEDs and still provides protection against rock chips and of course t doesn't get hot anymore so no. Ore melting.

^ Have pics? I was looking at a 3K HID kit but the LEDs seem to have come a long way.

I sent you some of the pics but here are some more.

5k 3000lm VLED platinum high output with yellows laminx. It has a weird greenish hue.

So I did some testing:

Here with no tint on the right and yellow tint on the left.

Here it is with yellow on the left but now Amber laminx on the right.

I liked the Amber much better with it on. It looks like a perfect yellow when the LED is on but kinda different if off. I rewired them to run as DRLs.

Oh and here it is at night with amber laminx.

BOOM! Hope this helps.

I posted on another thread but it was older. With the LED bulbs, do you need to do anything other than plug them in? If so, I would like the simplicity of that route vs doing an HID. I would't mind giving low/high/fogs a boost.
