Engine RPM Sticks

Recommended Posts

Ever since I bought my Legacy I have had a problem with the engine dropping RPMs when I shift.

Here's what happens:

When I start off and am ready to shift to the next gear, I take my foot off the gas, put in the clutch and change gears like normal. WHEN I shift, the engine will hold at whatever RPM I shifted at for about a second. It's getting very annoying. When I want to use engine compression and let off the gas, nothing happens for about a second also.

I also noticed the other day that when I was going up my GF's driveway, I pushed in the clutch and about a second later it felt like the clutch disengaged. For that second, even though the clutch was in all the way, the car was still driving. I've only had this happen once, and she has a pretty steep incline driveway if that makes a difference.

Does anyone else have this problem? Is this normal?

Car info is under my avatar.

normal. it is annoying. just try to get used to shifting like you are in no hurry thanks to the dual-mass flywheel. it supposedly aids in making the MT "smooth" i.e. not as sporty as it could be.
