Fog light switches?

Recommended Posts

I've spent many days trying to figure out how to use an OEM switch for completely independent fog lights. The OEM switch has six pins and five wires coming out of the harness plug. I can't figure it out. I know how to wire the OEM switch to function stock, but that is not my goal. Tomorrow I will try to wire them in with a rocker switch and a relay so they will be completely independent.

BTW if anyone knows how to get the OEM switch to work in this respect I'm all ears. I'm sure it has to be possible but I'm at a loss. I'm going to sleep on it and see if I wake up with any ideas.

Here's mine (a bit dusty...):

That's pretty sick. I wanted to replace my Pre cut outs (like where the cruise control and rear defrost are) on the left side but idk if some of the switches will fit it. I really like this look you got!

Have you ever considered using a capacitive touch kit instead of a switch? You won't need to modify your dash. You can install it so that a chosen metal part you touch activates the device, like a semi-hidden screw, ect. This is a dual circuit kit that will drive 2 separate devices if you want. Relays will be required but you will need relays anyway for all but the most robust switches.

In that case you can use a this device. It is designed to be placed behind any non-conductive surface for activation. No physical contact is needed. http://www.bonanza.com/listings/Electronic-Kit-Capacitive-Touch-Sensor-Switch-12V/39831914?gpid=21297750541&gpkwd=&goog_pla=1&gclid=COH9nOvlwrQCFQqk4AodTiQAOA
