2 Bad wheel bearings

Recommended Posts

I took my 05 wagon into the dealership on Saturday for a 27,000 mile oil change. I also asked them to take a look at my wheels because I had a very slight "whoa whoa whoa" noise at about 40-50 miles. 3 hours later I had two new wheel bearings, front and rear drivers side.

They tried to make me pay for the one bearing but after some arguing they did cover both of them under the powertrain warranty.

I wonder if I should expect the others to go soon?

Hmmm... I have a very slight "whoa whoa whoa" noise as you put it but it occurs over a much wider range of vehicle speeds. I have been hoping that it is road noise and not wheel bearings but it's getting hard to ignore the 800 pound gorilla in the room.

sorry let me rephrase, I really started noticing it @ 40-50 mph. it continued at all speeds after that.

Subaru has a TSB out for the rear wheel bearings and has extended warranty coverage for them, dated 04/30/08.

Origional owners should have been sent letters in the mail informing of them of this.

That only pertains to the rear wheelbearings. He had a front done. Being he is well within powertrain warranty, they should have covered it no questions asked!

They did cover it, but at first it sounded like they weren't going to. I argued a bit and they came back and stated that they'd be able to get it covered under powertrain. I don't think they bothered checking before I argued with them.

They should have covered it without your input from the beginning. It is a covered item and they tried to shaft you over.

Exactly, another SOA dealer full of scumbags.

I really don't get those greedy bastards. They get paid by SOA. Less then they charge customer, but they get paid. Yet they still try to screw people over.
