SnowBound BP5
Hi there. I tried doing a quick search but couldn't come up with anything relevant at all. (am I doing it wrong? ) Just like the subject says, I'd like to know what are some of the best value batteries available out there for our cars. A simple factory size replacement would do. I'm not looking for some extreme/super power/compact application. Believe it or not I'm still on the same battery that came from the factory. I've had my BP for over 7 years now and I'm up in the mountains all the time during winter season. (I know some of you are probably calling bull$h!t right now) Just recently I've finally noticed my car doing a little sputtering right after I start her up. With another snowboarding season quickly approaching it's definitely time to replace. I was going to get a new one before the season last year but thought what the heck I wanted to find out just exactly how long would my factory unit last. Any suggestions/pricing would be appreciated, thanks.
SCASEYS
Optima redtop lasted me 10 years, then the alternator ate it I donated to LegacyGT.com which allows me to have this nifty signature. If anything SCASEYS posts ever becomes a sticky i'm gonna light this whole place on fire
Wicked
Just replaced mine because I'd rather know I have a good battery (over 4 yrs old) for this winter. Replaced with a Diehard Gold for $118.00.

BigBad
I went with a Duralast Gold battery replacement. Its sits ever so slightly taller then the OEM but fits just fine. It has worked really well and got it for $100 at the time from Autozone

grovlet
X2 the platinums are really good X3 - I use them in all my cars, and they pro-rate the price for replacement over 6 years, with the first 3 a complete replacement if it fails. I typically have a "Failure" every 3 years...... But even if you go 6 it's still like $50 off a new one.

SnowBound BP5
Thanks for all the input guys. Sounds like Sear's Die Hard Platinum is the "platinum standard" if you've got a platinum budget.

JmP6889928
I always buy batteries from AZ because there's a million of them anywhere you travel and I buy DD tires from Discount Tire for the same reason. That way, if you ever have trouble on a long trip, it's easy to get a replacement. AZ batteries are made by Johnson Control, same as the Sears, and they are rated as a quite good battery and their warranty is generally no questions asked. Also if you are on a long trip and the battery cashes in for some reason, they at least have tools and will let you change it (or they'll change it for you) on the spot and you don't have to wait. It is $112.99 before the $40 off coupon code and the $15 core charge. $72.99 ain't so bad sucks I missed out on the $25 rebate they also had which ended the 31th of last month. Giixxer21
My factory battery lasted 8 years, and was still strong. I never wait that long for any of my other vehicles. But it just kept going. I replaced it with another factory battery. Hope it lasts until the car finally croaks. My wife drives 40,000 a year

lgt_nube
> Just recently I've finally noticed my car doing a little sputtering right after I start her up.< That doesn't sound like a battery problem to me. I'm still on the original battery in my 2005 LGT, approaching 150K miles, with no sign of a battery problem. Hemingway
+1 on the Diehard Gold or Platinum batteries. Been using them for 25+ years and no problems ... neither a NE winter blizzard nor the sweltering heat of Texas in August ... utter reliability.
