Hey, guys... Long time...

I'm at 153k miles, and I'm using a quart of oil every 750 miles. It seems, from what I've read, that it's probably a ring-land failure on cyl #4. A compression test will indicate for sure, but no matter what, it's probably time for a top-end. And if I'm honest, that's a disappointment, but I'm committed to it.

Do we have any quality independent shop options for a teardown/rebuild in Cleveland? The dealer will likely want $5k for this work -- plus the cost of the clutch, etc. (original clutch, so might as well change it).

Thanks in advance...

I think most in the area would recommend Slick, for this type of stuff.

Tough break there, man. Sorry to hear. :(

^ Damn, you two fill up at the same place? That is suspect, indeed......

^ Check both LERSOC (Lake Erie Regional Subaru Owners Club) as well as Forced4s.com (all makes/models, but the founding core was strongly Subaru-oriented at the time, and there's still many of us there).

I buy my e85 from the same station every time

Not like I have a choice of many locations :)

^

TSI+WRX Ron is having a H2H on Sunday...

I know. :) Thank you. :) But unfortunately I can't make it - this weekend, we've got a family member's wedding. I still have $275 or something like that on-credit at Ron's, since I paid for a few classes that got postponed. :spin:

I may be starting his Combatives Conditioning class on Tuesday! :) I'm gonna get my butt kicked!

Then......stock Turbo blew. (BUMMER) Soooooo I searched around and found a place called Rallitek.com. I said lets do it and ordered their stage 3 AVO turbo kit! I Then found a website called gripmotorsports.com and got an Greddy Evo2 exhaust. Little less then six grand and heres what I have.

Stock Legacy GT.......250hp Quarter mile time: low 14's

STAGE 1. (Economy map) est. 280-290hp. Quarter mile time: 13.23 @114.23mph

(Going by the readout I ran from the Cobb access port)

Anybody here done a timing belt themselves and is in the akron area? I'm by no means an idiot when it comes to turning wrenches, but it still makes me nervous that I will still screw something fairly simple up.
