Drivers side sensor on tranny

My mechanic was putting my tranny back in my car and accidentally broke the sensor on the drivers side, he said there were only 2, and he broke the drivers side one. He wanted me to try and find out what it does and about how much it costs. Any ideas? Thanks.

Got a picture? It possibly sounds like the front speed sensor. It is part of a harness that has 3 sensors (front, rear and another 3rd in the tranny) and it is sold as an integral unit, costs about $340.

Could be the neutral safety switch too. It's higher up on the drivers side.

never mind I see you have a automatic.

305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD).  CHECK your oil, these cars use it.
