markc0220k
my car is 3 months old, and i got mine re-tinted a week ago. It is now 30% side and 20% moonroof/rear, but it was almost no diff compared with the orginal tint film from dealer - 35% side and 20% rear! Specially the rear even looked lighter now! actually, i immediately noted that it didn't make much diff once i picked up my car at the tint-shop, but they said it's normal on ceramic-film. i will take/post some pics tomorrow after work! thanks, mark
JayRez33
My car is about a month old tints are about two weeks old. I have 20% Lumar tints on all 5 windows, a 20% 5 inch strip across the top of the front windshield, and the sunroof is factory tinted.
markc0220k
thanks jay, yours is definitely looked like 20%! and i thought 30% is just slightly lighter than yours, but mine is way lighter than yours and even looked lighter than 35%! mark
markc0220k
i'll take more pics post here later to show better diff btw front (with 0% tinted), side 30% and rear 20% tinted window. mark
JayRez33
my brother has 35% on his '03 accord and they look about the same darkness as yours.. during the day the 35% look a lot lighter which is one of the main reasons that i went darker
markc0220k
do you think i should keep that "ceramic"? or re-tint it with cheaper but darker film? coz i don't think i'll pay another $400+ to go from 30% to 20%... mark

Woodstock
I got 3m non-metalized 20% tint. I paid $180. Why do people pay $300+? that's a rip off.

grimsleeper
35% driver/passenger, 20% rears. http://noble3d.com/DSCF3898.JPG going from 35% to 30% isn't going to be very noticeable to begin with, not sure how the ceramic comes into play. LegacyGTBiggie
Ceramic and some of the others have a different look. Brownish to the blue/purple. I forget which one i went with but it was the grey/blackest of all the choices. The GF got regular 3M installed from winners locally in rockville. Didnt have the choice of different kinds of films in the same %s. Here is her car with 40 or 35 i forget. But legal in MD. http://th3forgott3n.com/gallery/albums/EP_l/EP016_l/normal_EP016_079_l.jpg
LegacyGTBiggie
Also the darker your interior the darker the tint will look. Why I tend to roll my windows down or turn on a interior light when i get pulled over.
markc0220k
few more pics here. you can compare the front (0%) with the side (30%), and side (30%) with the rear (20%)! i think they just put 30% all around, what should i do? i already paid $400 for this, shall i go back and let them redo it? or go find another shop?! mark
LegacyGTBiggie
You spent 400 getting tint put in??? OMG man. I paid 180 with some removal of the old glue from old tint and the full tint job.

markc0220k
the shop gave me some papers (warrantly? guarantee?) before i left. i'll go home and read it later, and see if they can redo it for me without paying another $400! shall i be duped into their business again? or anyone know any good tint shop at Houston Texas area please? mark

What you paid for is the ceramic tint, it's significantly more expensive than other types. I just don't understand why someone would pay that much for a barely noticeable 5% decrease... I can pretty much guarantee they're not going to redo it for free, though.
markc0220k
you right sleeper, but i was just afraid 20% would be too dark (coz like i said, when i picked up my car from dealer, my side window were 35% and rear was 20%. and that 20% rear window was very dark to me, but it was ok because it's at the back!) so, i went 30% on side window and keep 20% at the back. Who knows that 30% now is like or even lighter than some's 35% and the 20% rear now just looks like 35%?! anyway, my fault, and you right. i should go darker at the beginning! : ( mark
