B4_Maniac
I just noticed..when you pull the handbreak up on the new leg..the daytime running lamps cut off. Just a neat little thing.

SUBE555
The same feature was on the MY00 BH Legacy L Wagon my dad owns, so it's not a new thing to Subaru at least.
antelope
Ouch! I'm planning on trading in my MY00 Legacy Brighton Wagon! I'm only(?) 35 and I feel like I'm 55! I guess this is why I'm looking at the GT... For the record, SUBE is correct (despite his tender years). :P
SUBE555
Hey, easy there antelope! I might be 22 but I feel like 44 right now. Okay, off to work *sigh*.

Dr. Zevil
Yeah, same thing happens on my 02 WRX. Subaru is known for not packing it's cars full of gadgets, but adding actual USEFUL things that are well thought out. Although I am not a fan of DRL's anyway. GBY
Lets pull this thread back into the realms of usefullness  I believe the reason the handbrake controls the DRL's is to preserve bulb life, if they came on with the ignition then the bulbs would be getting a nasty voltage/current fluctuation when you start the car - flickering.... Drift Monkey
I really could care less about DRLs. The reason we even have them is because of Canada. I for one, am going to disable mine as soon as I get it.

Its a very good idea. I don't know what the life is on the Subaru bulbs, but I had my 01 Leg for 3 years and they never blew.

The Volvo V40 I had needed new bulbs every 12 months (full power DRL's and no handbrake on/off feature).
Nothonotus
OT kinda... you might notice most Tahoe/Suburban/Yukons with a DRL out has it out on the drivers side... mine has gone out twice on that side in 4 yrs. However, the passenger side has never been replaced... hmm. I've noticed driving around that this seems to be the norm, say 5 drivers side to every 1 passenger side. No idea why. Jason L
That feature has been around for a long time. The cheap '96 Saturn SL2 that I bought in college did the same thing.
Ninjapimp
Darn, someone beat me too it. That has been standard operating procedure for Cars in Canada forever. I've never been in a car with DRL that didn't do that.
CPTChaplin
This is my first vehicle with Day Time Running Lights. I have always driven with my lights manually turned on for improved visibility and safety. Also, I think that cars with High Power Fog Lamps just look cool when they are approaching you on the road with all the lights going (day or night). Can someone let me know what the DRL look like? Does it include the Fog Lamps? Can you turn on the Fog Lamps Only? Thanks. J.R.
