peteyjr
BTW it was a very tricky day . After giving us some open high speed slaloms last year the powers at be decided to tighten things up and give the little guys (Miata's and such) a chance . Vid make's it look like a walk in the park but in reality it was a very tricky and technical course. I fared okay , won my ESP class against a bunch of modded mustangs (They don't even come close). Top time was by a new lotus Exige . Best Subie time was by a modded STI with 245 R compounds and RCE Camber plates, coilovers. My heavy wagon did pretty good considering , around three seconds behind the top dog STI in SM class. My main complaint was the heat . Friggin 85 deg out there yesterday. Tire pressures were an issue as they kept going up . Many folks were sliding all over the place

compsurge
Wagoncrossin' for the win. I can't wait to get out this season! I like your ride, very nice. Stock suspension? Group N mounts all around?
peteyjr
I talk more about my suspension in this thread i did last year http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/my-wagon-takes-ford-cobra-autocross-battle-147938.html?t=147938&highlight=cobra Conservative suspension. No coils, Koni's and ION springs. Solid endlinks , Progress bars tuned for autocross . 1.8 neg camber, AVO LCA's, Whiteline Steering rack bushes. Kuhmo victoracer tires 225/45/17's. It is a great balance between NVH and handling. Part of me wants to go RCE Coils with high rate springs and go further with the suspension (Camber plates, Group N 's etc) . The other part of me says stay put , work on the driver between the ears . I let a friend with an STI drive my wagon on the course (A fun run)and he gave me favorable reviews . He said it handled quite neutral and rotated well. I can live with that for now.
Leonardo
Gotta love wagons at a course, specially our big ones! Great run! I'm replacing my coilovers (one blew) with Konis and Eibach springs. How did you have your Konis adjusted?
peteyjr
Leo , I did trial and error. I haven't touched them since I dialed them in . Scared to make it worse like I did once. If I remember right its 1/2 turn from full stiff front , 3/4 turn from stiff rear. Mainly I think its important to match the spring rate. Every time I played with the progress bars (adjustable front and rear) I had to tweak them. If I go up to Sebring in June you can try my wagon and compare to yours. peteyjr
BTW you will be happy with the Koni's and Eibachs.

Leonardo
Like the tail lights and I'm thinking of painting the rear bumper like you did!
peteyjr
The painted rear bumper (diffuser area) was a surprisingly easy and nice looking mod. I did it mainly since the paint around the exhaust cut outs was faded from me scrubbing the soot from the exhaust. Turns out it looks better than before. Here's a vid of Jerry the top dog STI. Notice how fast and tight he is on the slalom. Don't think the wagon could ever do that unless the suspension was stiffened considerably . Even then you have mass and longer wheelbase. Eventually I'm going to buy a used Miata or MR2 [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1PqBohDK5rM&feature=player_detailpage]YouTube - Autocross Feb 2011 028[/ame]
Leonardo
I might just do it since I have the flat black bumper spray already! Dis you remove the bumper and lightly sand it before? I should get a flat clear spray too!
peteyjr
I got lazy and didn't remove the bumper. I did sand it , sprayed it with Valspar flat black and some clear satin on top. Came out nice. painted around the muffler tips. If I did it again I'd pull the bumper cover. This Vid is of my friend in a WRX wagon. He's tuned by Infamous (loves his tune) [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-cIRNqbYaxU&feature=player_detailpage]YouTube - Autocross Feb 2011 010[/ame]
