dahoseman
I was going to install an auxillary switch in the location of one of the two dummy buttons by the windshield wiper de-icer button. I popped out the dummy buttons to see where the be best place would be to run the wires and discovered that there are pins behind them running to the plugin harness. Two pins behind the center dummy button and 4 pins behind the medial dummy button. What are these for?

AkumaMax
On the 05 JDM models it goes Window wiper deicer, Folding Mirror, ECO button(guessing changes the settings for better fuel economy?)

ssbtech
What are these for? Those pins you see behind the blank switch covers are for LEDs that would have been installed for those buttons, one LED to illuminate the button icon, the other to indicate if the feature is on or not. The actual switch mechanism isn't installed behind those blank pieces.
ssbtech
What's to the right of the mirror button? Is that fog light dimmer? Cars with HIDs are required to have some form of beam height adjustment to compensate for passengers and load. It's to aim the beam up and down. fahr_side
Not on EDM cars. My factory HID headlamps are self-leveling. ssbtech
Not on EDM cars. My factory HID headlamps are self-leveling. Auto is fine too, as long as there's some form of compensation. Something I don't think anyone who has stuck aftermarket HIDs into their car has thought about.

Correct, I thought about using that switch for various lighting controls or other things, but just to lazy to wire anything to it. 276hp/347tq On a DynoJet Dyno Video - Had a big lean spot as you can tell in the second pull

dahoseman
Wow, lots of information. Thanks everybody. I ended up just drilling through it so I could put my own wiring in there. It will now be a switch to allow auxiliary lighting to activate when the brights are on. Lots of interesting features for JDM models. These aren't necessarily critical, but it does remind me of how we get screwed out of the best cars and awesome features in the USA.

dahoseman
I like features, but I don't particularly care if they're new or not. I don't ever plan on owning a new car in my life. Other people seem to enjoy it, but for me, not worth it. However, if I were ever to own another Audi, it would have to be essentially new because I don't think they are worth owning after 3 years.
