JVranicar
I'm new to this board so this may have already been asked. But is there any chance Subaru has plans to offer an AWD version of the BRZ? The current RWD only option would be a big purchase barrier for me so I'm wondering if there are plans to add AWD soon.
I Donated thefultonhow Posted December 4, 2012 I Donated Share Posted December 4, 2012 The position of the engine/transmission is all wrong for AWD.

It needs to stay lightweight and RWD.

mwiener2
You should not even consider a BRZ as you apparently just don't get it. My Mods List (Updated 8/22/17) 2005 Outback FMT Running on Electrons
TurboLag23
The WRX may come in coupe form. That'll perform the same function an AWD BRZ would perform. Now they just need to make STI versions of everything (yes, even the Legacy and Forester), and sell them in the US!!!

Not likely. Too expensive to federalize for not enough buyers. Subaru will stick with the profitable stuff.

ehsnils
If you look under the hood of a BRZ you realize quickly that it's not possible to make an AWD version. If you want sporty AWD you should get a STi.

Nysbadmk8
If your waiting for a AWD BRZ... Ask honda to make a AWD s2k, Mazda to make a AWD rx-8, Chevy to make a Awd corvette, Ford to make a AWD mustang... Any other "good" RWD chassis we want to screw up by adding 400 lbs and understeer? JVranicar
Damn, you guys are brutal. But I appreciate the responses. I've never even seen one of the BRZ's up close and I'm not a gearhead so this was obviously an ignorant question. Time to move on to another topic. Not trying to flame you, just the brz was built to be a lightweight, rwd car. Four (well two and two halves) door miata basically.
TrueWhiteBoy
Yep, if Subaru is your thing you're likely looking at a SVX or a 2.5RS Coupe. Outside of that, maybe a Audi TT/A5? I'm not sure I'd really consider any of those particularly light though.
