ralphyralph5
Anytime I let the car sit for a few hours, the steering wheel gets really hard to move and the battery light pops up on the dash(for less than a second) multiple times and theres a squeak coming from the engine bay. After driving for a while it goes away and the wheel becomes easily manageable. Anyone have any ideas as to what this might be? Thanks in advance for any help... meier motor sports
dumb question is... is the engine running? are the belts tight? what are the other conditions? do you mean let it sit ideling for a few hours? or is it off and then a few hours later you jump in and the wheel is hard to turn? more details are needed
ralphyralph5
Thanks for the feedback... Han/Mweiner2-I checked the fluid and the belts...both are up to par llmask-that happens also Meier-those are all valid questions: Yes, it is running and the belts are tight. What I mean is that I arrive somewhere, Park(turn car off), and come back in a few hours and the wheel is hard to turn. i just don't understand... meier motor sports
after you start the car after the few hour rest, does the power steering feal come back? like does it build back up? how does the ps fluid look? is it filled up? is the fluid dark and dirty and possibly smelly? or is it clean and fresh? and is this on yuor 05 lgt? if the ps feal builds back up i would suspect the pump being bad. i would try flushing the system maybe. maybe there is some dirt in a line somewhere holding something open that should be shut or shutting something that should be open
meier motor sports
oh oh. to see if the pump is locking up drive the car as you would and then parket and take the ps belt off. after the applicable few hour wait check the ps pully. can you turn it by hand? also check right after the belt is removed or simply lossened enough to gain access
