Hops Posted November 17, 2008 Share Posted November 17, 2008 Ok, to start... I've been looking for an '05 GRP non-limited wagon with a manual trans for over a year now. Only 77 made. I was expecting to hear $19,000; which is about what the car books at. I tried to not act too excited and told him I'd be out there Saturday to pick it up. I spent all day Friday getting the money together, plane tickets, CarFax, service records, title and all important paperwork faxed up to me. Left home in SLC at 5:00 AM Saturday, flew into Phoenix, flew into Houston, got picked up and taken to Stafford to get the car, signed all the paperwork, taped up the car with blue painter's tape, and hit the road at about 4:00 PM. Stopped somewhere in Oklahoma at a rest stop and slept in the back of the wagon for three hours. Back up at 5:00 AM and drove through the rest of the State, along with Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming, and back to Utah at midnight. 19 hours of driving yesterday... Only stopped for gas, snacks, and coffee. Lots of coffee. The car traded in at $13k just a little under KBB trade in of $13.7k. The dealer took it to auction and only got it up to $12.5k, so he decided to eBay it. He had no idea what the car was, actually. And nobody drives Subarus in Texas. I would have paid more for it and he was regretting not asking more for it. KBB retail is $18.8k. I did not see one Legacy on this whole trip. I expected to see one in Colorado, but no. Now considering that I have 95K on mine, its not even worth it for me to even sell.
