We use the oem gaskets. We have found them to be far superior to any of he others. The grimmspeed ones are good if you have crappy fitment and need to make up space.

this look like all i need?

Meh, I've seen mixed reviews with the copper gaskets. I think the best thing you can do is stick with OEM and tighten everything to spec. YMMV.

FWIW, I would get the following:

  • Up pipe to turbo gasket
  • Up pipe to exhaust manifold gasket
  • Exhaust manifold to head gasket (x2)
  • Downpipe to turbo gasket
  • Downpipe to catback gasket (not sure what you need specifically with your setup)

Those gaskets got me through my UP/DP install with fresh gaskets all around. I used a flat 3" gasket + adapter + donut gasket for my DP to catback connection, but I think your setup will be different. Either way, that connection is the least of your worries--a leak there will only result in extra noise and you can remedy that pretty easily.

Am I missing something here.

Last night I bolted my up pipe into the oem exhaust manifold that I installed over the weekend. I did have to lossen the heat shield on that side to install the up pipe to manifold nuts and the O2 sensor may have been in the way, but that is not installed yet. I seem to recall I removed the O2 sensor before I removed the up pipe two weeks ago when the engine was out of the car.

Why do you need exhaust manifold to head gasket to install the up pipe ?

305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD).  CHECK your oil, these cars use it.

You do need to remove one of the collectors to do the UP in the car. Just makes it quicker and easier.

I don't see any possible way that I could have gotten my stock up pipe out without dropping the exhaust manifolds--that is unless I had the turbo out as well and removed the up pipe through the top. You can just disconnect the passenger side manifold from the crosspipe, but I found it just as easy to drop the entire manifold pair and leave the crosspipe connection in place.

With an extra set of hands to drop/reinstall the manifolds it's not difficult either, and with the 3-bolt connection and new gaskets the reinstalling them is not going to be prone to leaks.
