Moderators BarManBean Posted April 5, 2013 Moderators Share Posted April 5, 2013 Looks like I'm going to need to get a set of wheels powdercoated. Anyone have any recommendations in the northern VA area or any idea how much I'll end up paying around here? RuskiTrombone
There is a guy/shop in Manassas I used which did excellent work on my Volks. Charges around $100-$125 per wheel. Here's his website: http://figurefinishing.com/
Moderators BarManBean Posted April 5, 2013 Author Moderators Share Posted April 5, 2013 Thanks. Price seems to be pretty constant around 100+ per wheel. Might break up my deal on wheels it seems... PeterJMC
Could we do a group buy to bring down the price? I want my four rotas powder coated.
Moderators BarManBean Posted April 5, 2013 Author Moderators Share Posted April 5, 2013 Doubt it would amount to much, but maybe. I'd imagine they'd cut a deal if the color was all the same, but maybe not as much if everyone wants a different color. RuskiTrombone
He took $100 off my work order because he was taking way too long with my wheels. I had to wait over a month to get them back.
PeterJMC
What color were you looking at getting?
Moderators BarManBean Posted April 5, 2013 Author Moderators Share Posted April 5, 2013 Something darkish...gunmetal, possibly an anthracite type color. "Bullet-proof" your OEM TMIC! <<Buy your kit here>> Not currently in stock
PeterJMC
Cool, I'd be down for either one. Let me know what place you end up pulling the trigger on and be happy to jump in to help bring the price point down.

Even though he's not local, you should still get a quote from Mike at http://www.thepowdercoater.com. I say you should pull the trigger! You should be able to cover the PC cost with the monies you get from the tires.

PirateDuck
I've heard good things about Dominion Powder Coating in Manassass and not so flattering things about extreme PC in Lorton on terminal rd.

Thanks. Extreme PC is the only company I've talked to so far and they quoted me $150 a wheel which is ridiculous... Shawn06SpecB
I used frederick powder coating in winchester if you're willing to drive a little further. IIRC I paid ~$300 for a set of 18s. Just make sure you tell him to clear the wheels when done.

Shawn06SpecB
The quality of work was excellent. The only issues were that the powder I picked came out slightly darker, he explained to me afterwards that the samples are on steel and the wheels are aluminum so it will appear darker, and the fact that I had to make 2 trips to pickup the wheels because he didn't clear coat the wheels although I know we specifically talked about it. Sublimejoe
American Stipping in Manassas is by far the best powdercoating place in the area. Have used them many times.
PeterJMC
I think I'm gonna take some parts to American Stripping or Figure Finishing in a few weeks
PeterJMC
Dropped parts off at Figure Finishing on Monday. I initially went with Hot Yellow but then called them today to change it to Astatic Red. I'm pretty excited to get them completed. The parts have a six week lead time at the current moment. Parts: - Hella Horn Cages - Three under body braces - Front and rear swaybars - Strut tower brace brackets.

RuskiTrombone
The guy at figure finishing is slow. He did take $100 off my order for the delay.
PeterJMC
They seemed like a small shop that was really busy. The work they do looked great, and I'm in no rush to get this stuff on my car so I'm not worried.
