njsub
I just picked up an '06 Outback wagon. It comes with the NAVI system. It's pretty cool, and has some other little interesting aspects, but it won't let you enter any information while the car is moving. Even with a passenger! Does anyone have any ideas on how to possible work around this?
Guest *Jedimaster*
There's a few threads about this- is your car manual or automatic? I seem to remember something about the Spec B being the only manual car with NAVI.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to possible work around this? There is no work around for that. You'll have to pull over. It's one of those saftey features companies implement so they don't get sued by a careless driver. It sucks.... Someone needs to find a hack! snoman
Does the OEM Subaru navigation system include a voice-controlled interface? I was pretty disappointed with my AVIC-N2 navigation system because it also blocks many features while the car is in motion. After I got around to setting up the voice-command kit, it became much more usable. With the voice command system, I can store 300 destinations in the address book and route to them while the car is in motion simply by saying the name of the destination. On a side note, it does a remarkable job of text-to-speech and speech-to-text recognition within the address book. I wonder why Pioneer didn't use text-to-speech to announce road names during guidance since the unit is obviously capable.
njsub
i'm pretty sure it doesn't have a voice controlled interface. at least not that i've found or read about. i understand about the safety issue, but if you have a passenger sensor for the passenger airbag, why not have something similar for the NAVI system? That way, at least the passenger can safely enter information while moving.
picflight
I found this microphone for the Nav system; http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_8316_Kenwood+KNA-VC300.html. Is this feature an option?
