08Legacy08
Hey all! It's time to come off the sidelines and finally start a build thread! History: I bought my car in September of '08 after having an '08 2.5i for only 6 or 7 months. I had gotten a mid-year promotion at work and happened to have an awesome sales guy at my Subaru dealer that thought of me when he found a brand new custom ordered GT. The car was in Vermont and apparently the guy never showed to pick it up. There were only 2 OBP GTs in New England at the time and I had to have it! I drove to Boston from NH on a daily basis for about a year. I racked up many miles... eventually I switched to the commuter rail and started driving my truck because I wanted to start modifying my GT. At only 42K, my car showed up at Subaru with low compression across 3 cyl. Turns out I had some kind of piston coating failure, which was covered by Subaru. Some new buckets too... I snuck in a set of wisecos *shhhhhhhhh....* and the modding bug had officially bitten. Original mods include: Rallitek Springs, X02 Cat back Prodrive Mufflers, K&N Typhoon, ERZ Catted Down Pipe, Wisecos, Group-N mounts and STI titanium shift knob, strakes/spats, RacerX FMIC and a Bren tune. I was happy for a little while until I saw the S402 online... I promised myself I would build my car as close to the S402 as possible..... I'll let the pictures tell the rest of the story: I had no idea how to get S402 parts from Japan and other supporting parts from Europe/Israel so I went as far as I could with USDM aftermarket: 315/350 on VF46 with wisecos and RacerX: Hard work paid off at SM5! Then BNR, DW & Walbro Entered my Life: My interior started getting boring and I decided to commit to the first USDM/EDM center console conversion. I was the first!! I also figured out the wiring to make the cup holder illumination work. Wouldn't you know, I had to piece together EDM and JDM parts in order to get a LHD S402 looking center console? OBP Painted Radio (Before JDM Dual Din Kit) Thanks to some local guys who managed to get their paws on some JDM stuff (Thanks Shtbxr22 and Underdog) I acquired my first exterior JDM Goodies! Rear JDM Bumper after much help from Yuki @ Japanparts.com, my local paint guy Neil's Collision in Dracut MA, and later a tough decision to butcher my Prodrives to fit the shorter JDM Rear: http://i1065.photobucket.com/albums/u395/Frontman81/2012-08-23_12-33-01_948_zpscab890b3.jpg Had to Sell all of this stuff..... http://i1065.photobucket.com/albums/u395/Frontman81/2012-09-03_17-01-37_962.jpg BECAUSE..... ....THERE'S MORE! 08Legacy08
Mocking up the front end. I had to order a lot of stuff from Japanparts.com - I'm on a first name basis with Yuki and have plans to visit him when I go to Japan sometime in the near future. I also ordered parts from Israel because I was able to figure out which parts were EDM and which were JDM: http://i1065.photobucket.com/albums/u395/Frontman81/2012-09-08_15-14-47_696_zps313f7f0e.jpg The bumper fit with the EDM fenders, however, it didn't fit just right because of the FMIC... Zero1 has bigger balls than me. I just couldn't bring myself to cut my front cover so the P/W Stayed and the RacerX went: http://i1065.photobucket.com/albums/u395/Frontman81/2012-09-22_15-28-47_734_zps464f36cd.jpg

08Legacy08
I really had to figure these things out - they are BY FAR superior in quality and complexity than the USDM headlights. I had some help from my good friend Leke for this part - What a great guy! He saved me from the edge a couple of times lol. http://i1065.photobucket.com/albums/u395/Frontman81/2012-09-21_21-13-31_930_zpse1d499ea.jpg Finally got them finished and ready for install for real! Oh, and paint was ready too: http://i1065.photobucket.com/albums/u395/Frontman81/2012-09-21_21-38-30_953_zps7e0a7203.jpg And then I got my first shop! Well, technically my 3rd shop but first since I had my Subaru. I moved everything over to Londonderry NH, where I shared space with an appliance repair guy! Weird situation but allowed me to work inside throughout the winter of 2012! http://i1065.photobucket.com/albums/u395/Frontman81/2012-10-20_16-38-03_166_zpsd9ba412d.jpg Let the final assembly begin! http://i1065.photobucket.com/albums/u395/Frontman81/2012-11-17_15-49-05_754_zpsfef7c8e5.jpg EDM Fender Liners: http://i1065.photobucket.com/albums/u395/Frontman81/2012-11-17_15-50-02_551_zps62bc59ce.jpg http://i1065.photobucket.com/albums/u395/Frontman81/2012-11-17_16-11-24_66_zps959b077c.jpg Zero Sports Front Lip! Oh! and I painstakingly installed the Alcantara door cards into my existing door panels - my panels were perfect. The Spec-B ones had some dings that I felt were unacceptable for my build. http://i1065.photobucket.com/albums/u395/Frontman81/IMG_20130531_090033_284_zps23800fb4.jpg
08Legacy08
See, all along I have been paranoid about my bottom end... no, not MY bottom end... the rod and mains. See, my tune was a bit aggressive and it seemed like every subie around me began to eat rod bearings.... even non-tuned cars with higher mileage. Prior to the move to my 1st shop, I had begun to build THIS baby, originally started life in an '05 OBXT: Had short block and heads sent to machine shop... got them back and started: http://i1065.photobucket.com/albums/u395/Frontman81/2012-11-17_19-13-55_999.jpg http://i1065.photobucket.com/albums/u395/Frontman81/2012-11-17_19-13-42_542.jpg http://i1065.photobucket.com/albums/u395/Frontman81/2012-11-17_18-45-49_935.jpg
