LegGtBK97
I here a lot of people talk about doing swaps. What if i wanted to do a swap into my second gen and be able to pass an obd2 emissions inspection. As i live in a part of the U.S. that has these kinds of laws.. any ideas... or is it as simple as swaping the engine and ecu from the same car? Bassnectar
I have a 2003 ej205 swap from a wrx. My car came with codes pertaining to the evap system... I found a split wire and all is fixed. If you do it properly you can pass without codes. Merging your wiring harness will be more time consuming than the engine swap itself. Especially if you want it to last and not run into issues a few years down the road. Sent from my SGH-I337M using Tapatalk
LegGtBK97
i've seen places that make plug and play harnesses. they'll make the one for your car and engine... what ecu are you running...
Bassnectar
2003 wrx ecu I've never seen that site hopefully they do a good job soldering. I think its a couple hundred dollars to have two merged together Sent from my SGH-I337M using Tapatalk

spooln30
There are a few guys that will swap harnesses for $600-700. And they do great jobs.

LegGtBK97
yea im still a little confused when it comes to the swap... would i still have to keep my ecu in order for my windows ,power locks, etc to still work?
monkeyposeur
No. The ecu doesn't control windows and such. When you do a harness merge you strip everything off the harness to be swapped in that doesn't go to the ecu and merge it with the harness in the car. On rs25 Brydon did a great write up: http://www.rs25.com/forums/f128/t141937-brydon-teaches-you-merge-harness.html
