glen9010
Getting parts list together for timing belt change. Will replace water pump and thermostat with Subaru OEM. Not sure which belt kit to go with. Main brands seem to be Gates, Dayco and Continental. All are similar cost. Gates is talked about the most but have heard good things about Continental. Am familiar with Dayco during my snowmobile days. Suggestions? Haven't heard anyone talk about camshaft seals during timing belt change. Is this something that is overlooked or just isn't necessary? Any suggestions/recommendations would be great!
Mickeytl
I got the Gates timing belt kit with water pump installed two years ago. Haven't run into any issues.
Max Capacity
Cam seals should be fine, unless you can see leakage now. I used a Dayco belt years ago when I did my first belt change. If your cam seals are leaking, the cam gears can be a PITA to remove, make such you remove the front banjo filter while your cam gears are off. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs.
