Tuning in Queens?

TheMahFromTheU

Recommended Posts

Good Morning All,

I'm in the process of building my LGT, I've opted for VF48 rather then VF52, with 650cc injectors, process west TMIC, SPT exhaust, Invidia up/downpipe (catless)...

Where can a fellow go to get tuned in Queens? Or do I really need to drive to EFI Logic in CT?

There's also the other John at MR that does OS tuning, both Ryan and him are great to deal with.

Hey all, I have another question about tuning? So as I said my motor is totally being rebuilt, the car has stock dp/up but I plan on installing new motor along with new dp/up with exhaust - my question is once all of this is installed should I get tuned from jump or break in the motor first then get tuned?

If you don't have a stock setup, you need a base-tune/breakin map in order to break it in properly. Then have the car re-checked over and pro-tuned after breakin.

Is it safe to drive the car once its done to a shop that can provide me with such a map? This car is going through a total transformation..

I wouldn't.

When we do a motor replacement/upgrade or even certain bolt-ons we require the customers to get a base map prior to us even starting the car up.

You can drive with no map forever, but it isn't a good idea.

So when everything gets installed what am I suppose to do, flatbed it back home and then flatbed it to a shop for a tune?

I think there's two different topics being discussed here...

SHould you mod a car before the break-in period is one of them i BELIEVE... i would go with no.

What mike paisan was sayin', is that when you modify the car, you need the proper tune on it... So when you DO mod it (hopefully after breakin) make sure your tuner gives you a BASE map for the mods you have...

Depending on what the "build" is you often times need to have mods on it right from the get-go. Any of the major tuners out there who are worth their salt can send you a Break-in or Base Tune that will allow you to properly break it in for the mods you have and drive it to their tuning shop.

Infamous Tuning & Performance will build an e-tune base map, EFI Logics, Precision, and MSPT out on LI can all provide base maps for you to break in a rebuilt motor based on the specific mods you have.

I get that, but what I'm saying is - the motor is being rebuilt from scratch so my builder suggested if I wanted to change anything else while car is apart now would be a good time, so having said that: New motor goes in, new dp, new up, new exhaust, new turbo, new tmic, new diff bushings from frank_ster, new drop in panel filer for intake.

total overhaul.

While we are talking about "building" it, I hope you are building it with upgraded forged pistons. If you want to tell us what components you are using we can help you see if there is anything missing in the mix that could be beneficial.

I would not start or drive that setup without a base map from a reputable tuner on there.

Also I would consider a valve body upgrade to go along with the extra power. You also have an automatic, so I would suggest an ATF cooler, ATF Temp Gauge and Redline High Temp ATF as well. This will all be a good matchup with the upgraded motor.
