Which Fluid to Choose for 6MT?

Hi all,

I have been reading and doing some searches and I can see that a few folks around hear use the Extra-S fluid for the transmission oil change. Unfortunately here, in Canada, I am not able to put my hands on that particular fluid. As far as I can see I have to readily available choices.

First one is from dealer at it is the Motul gear Fluid 75W-90

Second one is RED LINE MT-90 (75W90) and RED LINE MTL ( by the way, not sure which one I would need)

Any experience with above stated products, any recommendations from my fellow Canadians that had used different brands available in ON?

BTW, I have 07 spec B with 50K miles.

I use amsoil and I've been pretty pleased with it. I think I'll probably end up trying eneos next tho.

Motul 75w90 is awesome for the 6-speed. It's great for 5-speeds too when mixed with lightweight shockproof.

Yup. MT90 is a GL4 fluid. NS is GL5.

I'm thinking of giving Eneos a try as well. But I can get Motul Gear cheap (through wrk) so am tempted to use that. But I like to try new things.

I actualy fidn a place to buy Extra-S from a local Subaru club member, he is selling it for around $15/L.

So I should rather use Extra-S then either Motul or REDLINE, right?

I would. Have yet to hear of ANY bad things about it. Wish we had some here.
