Classic front end clunk

NKZY

Recommended Posts

Alright so I've been experiencing the typical front end clunk for a while now. It seems to be coming from right under the foot well on the drivers side. It almost sounds like the wheel is loose or something but I know that is not the case. I've searched on the forum and read through all the other clunk threads and have checked the typical suspect areas. So far I've checked the top nut on the strut, the slide pins on the calipers, and the bushings for the sway bar. All seem to be good. So now I'm thinking it's the lower control arm bushing. I believe this is going to be my culprit judging by the way it looks:

Anyone got any input on this?

Very very common. Will cause clunking and eventually lots of front end shaking.

Replace with either whiteline or AVO front control arm rear bushing kit. You will need to have them pressed out and new ones pressed in.

World of difference.

Alright so I am going to replace them most likely with the whiteline's and hopefully that will be the end of my clunks. I'm probably going to do the front and rear bushings for my front LCA's at the same time, might as well. From my research on here and on nasioc it sounds like you can remove the LCA and place them in the oven (since they are aluminum) and I shouldn't have to actually press them out and then same thing for installation. I'm debating on doing this myself if I can find more info on it. Anyone here with aluminum LCA's used this technique to replace the bushings??

The one in the above picture is the rear LCA bushing.

the number above is for the inner front, if anyone is interested I have a brand new W53353 (bag was opened but never installed) $85.00 Shipped and PP,

I may be interested in this. I'm currently waiting on a quote from a shop near me (RT tuning) on the the front and rear LCA bushings and installation. I want to see how much thats going to run me first. They said they would call me back but I think they forgot. 😔 I'm going to shoot AZP installs a PM as well and see what they could do for me since they aren't too far from me.
