kletus
picked up a 2001 legacy gt 5 speed about a week ago, 183 k with a completely rust free shell. drove fine for nearly 200 miles before i started smelling fuel. it only smells strong at a stand still (OBVIOUSLY) but its not leaking, ie there is no drips under the car while its running. is there a common weak point in the fuel delivery system? this is my first foreign car, and first car at that, ive owned american trucks all my life but american trucks dont get 25 miles to a gallon (when its not leaking fuel) any advice or input will be much appreciated thanks! katalyst
it might be the rubber fuel hose from the fuel line to the rail. happens a lot on subarus. more here, with photos: http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/fix-report-gas-smell-again-whine-start-up-154233p2.html
kletus
Solved that issue now it's for a new issue. While its idling it'll suddenly jump from 5-600 rpms up to 11-1200 rpms then slowly creep back down?
