ChrisCrash
In an effort to bring out the rally side of my GT can we start a list of dirt roads and windy roads in the New England Area? Post your local favorite! I'm still fairly new to the area so the only windy road I know of up here is the Kancamagus highway in the white mountains but its sure a fun drive! I Donated Too sigmafour Posted July 29, 2015 I Donated Too Share Posted July 29, 2015 Interstate 95 and route 128 are great dirt roads. Route 3 is a close contender too...

Any of the 4 major "gaps" in VT are fun. From North to South: Appalachian Gap (VT 17) Lincoln Gap (Lincoln Gap Road) Middlebury Gap (VT 125) Brandon Gap (VT 73) Even better, it takes less than 3 hours to shoot all 4 gaps at one go. Captain Ned
Thanks, thats right in the heart of my snowboarding territory, could make a fun weekend out of it in the winter. Just a pointer, Lincoln Gap is closed in the winter and the other three can be real handfuls in bad winter weather. Other potential summer-only drives are VT 108 through Smugglers' Notch and VT 58 through Hazen's Notch.
ChrisCrash
Thanks for the tip. I had a crazy night leaving Bolton Valley last year on that steep access road. It seems Vermont has some of the more challenging winter roads.
