monkeyposeur
The axles have splines that slide into the diff. On first and second gens the spline is attached to the diff and the axles fit onto the splines and are secured with a spring pin. The later subaru axles have splines that are integrated into the axles and they slide into the diff. I was removing an axle on my first gen and I accidentally pulled the spline out of the diff. I just popped it back in with no problems after talking to a subaru tech. What year trans did you purchase? You'll probably have to locate a couple of splines.
