Drop -in Avo Filter, won't fit??? Need help!

I just order a drop-in filter from AVO Japan. (LEG-PAN-000)

I remove my old filter and try to put the new one in, won't fit. The box was hard to move out of the way, so i remove one half to make the job easier, but even then the filter won't fit in the hole!!! :icon_conf

When I compare it to the stock filter it's the same height but it's almost 0.5'' larger.

Also, the ruber surrounding the filter do not touch in one corner.

Anybody experience this problem before??

PM Casopolis. I believe he had the same problem.

Oh, I just found the thread... I don't know why it was closed.

I think I just have the same issue Casopolis had.

The filter is exactly the same as the one being picture in that tread: 7 7/8" square.

So I guess I'll have to use the rubber hammer too to get it to fit! :icon_bigg

But since all the tread I saw before where talking about a perfect fit, I was woundering if I had order the wrong filter by mistake.

I wish you were around when I had the problem Ross.

Yup same exact thing happened to me. It pissed me off because my entire air box was out of the car! I got over it.

I had to tap it in with a rubber mallet. Put 1 end in (rather than pressing it in all at once), and tapped it the rest of the way. Once it cleared the first 'ridge' it dropped in fine. I think the black 'frame' of the filter was angled slightly outward, making it too wide, but once it gets bent inward it fits fine.

Hard to describe, but it sucked to get in.

Took me a few tries to get the Avo in too. I didn't have to use a mallet but you have to angle it just right. Basically get the bottom in first then kindda bend the filter a little while you push it into the airbox.
