Since I bought the car (used) the stick shift always had slop in it, up and down, left and right. I installed Perrin front shift bushings and a kartboy sts. The bushings eliminated most of the side to side slop, BUT the up and down is still there. I almost feel like its worse now. Any suggestions as to what can cause this and/ or remedy it? modernfuse Posted June 1, 2010 Share Posted June 1, 2010 Just my opinion but this shifter design is always going to have a little play. It has linkage which is a space for movement no matter what. I installed the Rallitek shifter bushing on my stock shifter and it was a ton better than the OEM bushing, but the linkage that the bushing uses is space for movement. Like I said, just an opinion.
