BrooklynBoy
Had Blizzaks for 4 winters in NY.........fantastic tires. I drove them into the ground their final season------they handle wonderfully in dry/ warm weather too ( MUCH stiffer sidewalls than my new ContnentalExtremeContacts ) Do it right the first time.........or don't bother doing it at all. TSiWRX
^ What kind of Blizzaks? ---- Use search? Tell us where you drive, what are you most afraid of in winter. Krzys ^ Yep, like the man said, Subiedrew - http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/recommended-tires-canadian-winter-142372.html http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/anyone-planning-trying-out-blizzak-ws-70i-142223.html http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/sparco-drift-141596.html ^ Those are just three of the most recent threads. Also, mind Krzys's follow-up questions for you - where you live and drive, and what kind of conditions you face and/or are most concerned with. Look at the first 9 posts in the first thread I referenced above, and what they asked of that particular OP. Same idea goes for you, too. Without knowing more of what you want, it's virtually impossible to make a good recommendation for you. <-- I love Winky, my "periwinkle" (ABP) LGT! - Allen / Usual Suspect "DumboRAT" / One of the Three Stooges '16 Outback, '16 WRX, 7th Subaru Family
Legend
This will be my 2nd season on my Blizzak LM-60's. It's a good tire that balances dry performance with ice/snow traction. I really liked them a lot. Quieter than my summer Kumho's. I tested them up to 120mph and they performed great. Subiedrew
Hey guys, Thanks for the responses. I checked out a couple of the threads. Here's basically what I will be driving in... Most driving will be in the city. Days off will be spent in the snowy northern quebec landscape at the cottage so i want something with a good thick tread for that but that will also be a good stable ride in the city. My parents has Pirelli Winter's on their '01 OBW and they were amazing! Basically I'm looking for a good all around winter tire that will be tacky and last a few years. I'm thinking 205/55/16 on a set of pre-existing "16 steelies with 09 Impreza wheel covers...Thoughts?
outahere
Is traction on ice a priority for you?
TSiWRX
^ That's an important question to answer - traction on ice and/or compacted snow. --- I think that question, along with the legality and/or personal preference (i.e. NVH) of using studded tires, will determine whether Subiedrew should go with studded or "Studless Ice & Snows." <-- I love Winky, my "periwinkle" (ABP) LGT! - Allen / Usual Suspect "DumboRAT" / One of the Three Stooges '16 Outback, '16 WRX, 7th Subaru Family
Subiedrew
Yes ice traction is important. The country roads are usually icy and rarely sanded.
Subiedrew
We can't have studded tires in Ontario, so i have to go with studless.
outahere
Then consider Michelin Xi2, Blizzak WS70, Continental EWC, Nokian Hakka R, Toyo Observe GO2 Plus, Yokohama IG-
Subiedrew
I went with a set of 225/60/16 Blizzak WS 70's from Costco. Hopefully they will be good.
stevehecht
I went with a set of 225/60/16 Blizzak WS 70's from Costco. Hopefully they will be good. I'd bet that they will be more than just 'good'; I expect that you will be very satisfied with them.
krzyss
They will be good as long as 'magic' tread is still on (first 55%). "When the Blizzak WS70 is 50 percent worn, a tread depth indicator molded into the tread design lets the driver know that only 10 percent of the remaining tread is the Tube Multicell compound." http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Bridgestone&tireModel=Blizzak+WS70 Pay attention to this 'tread depth indicator' and snow or ice will not be an issue.
