gfxdave99
I have a black LGT sedan, and i decided that the 'bling' wheels are a bit much, so I'm going to go with something a little more tuner-esque. I have it down to two i think i'll photochop them when i get home but just wanted some opinions.. the matchup Konig Unknown (yes unkown is actually the name of the wheel) http://www.discounttiredirect.com/product/wheels/konunk.b.ang.jpg The only on-car pic i could find is this rice-a-roni celica http://www.wheelsdirectonline.com/customerrides/celica20inch/3.jpg vs The PIAA Sport Mesh http://www.subydude.com/images/prod/products/Wheels/Piaa/PIAA1875sportmesh.jpg http://www.piaa.com/Wheels/images-cars/Sport_MESH_HB4.jpg Thoughts.... comments... Gire
Hey Dave- If you like the the Konigs, buy 'em. But there is an overwhelming response from forum members (on this post and the previous one) that they are far too ricey and are hovering outside the realm of good taste. So many of us have had tons of wheels over the years and the best bet is to buy a set that you love and sports a style that won't look goofy in 6 months from now. -best to get something more classic and proven to stand up to the test of time, like the classic mesh of the Piaa's (or BBS) or a classic 5 spoke, 10 spoke, etc. If you want to turn people's heads in a big way (for better or worse), slap some 20" Unknowns on your car. I have attached a set that I used to own in '98 or '99 from Enkei, the Katana. They were cool for about 5 minutes. Thanks God they got stolen and I got a set mesh, like your Piaa example. Thanks for the nice nod Franklin. We all have our experiences, and our opinions on what looks good. If I was building a crazy Hot Import Nights show car, maybe the Unknowns (or my old Katanas!) would be a good choice... I am personally trying to get the 18" Spec B rims from Japan, and others might think that they are far too tame and OEM to spend that kind of money on... everyone is different and that is why variety is the spice of life! gfxdave99
Well honestly just looking at the unknowns by themselves they look pretty cool.. looking at JUST the wheels... But seeing them on a black subaru was an eye opener EEK! And while yes, it is in the end my car and what I like but I have anal tendencies when it comes to buying things for my car/computer/etc.. I like to read up on things, read opinions etc.. Like before i bought the LGT, i had a list of 15 cars i was looking at, kept looking at pros/cons and it came down to the LGT having the most amount of things i wanted with the least amount of things i didnt want.. So same thing with computer parts, wheels etc.... While yes, the rims are what I like (well hopefully, duh!) I also am interested in how my car will appear to others.. I most def dont want my car to look like a riced out Hot Import Nights show car, which is what it would have ended up looking like with the Konig's on it. Anyway back to my one other question, is there other rims similar in style to the piaa mesh's that dont cost such an arm and a leg? If everything seems under control, you're just not going fast enough. - Mario Andretti
