jimbop2k
Hello All: On my 2005 Legacy GT Wagon, one of the tires has a constant slow leak due to failure to seal on the rim. The guy at Discount Tire told me that once corrosion starts on a rim the tire will never seal properly. They have tried cleaning up the rim with a wire wheel and using sealers but it always leaks. So, my options seem to be: 1. Get one new Subaru wheel ($$$?) 2. Get four aftermarket wheels (same as one Subaru wheel?) 3. Go with an inner tube. What do you guys think? Have I missed other options? On the positive side, my arms have gotten really fit from pumping my tire every day with a bicycle pump. Cheers, Jim
Max Capacity
Wire brush it and put the tire back on it. I had that done years ago with another rim. All was fine. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). CHECK your oil, these cars use it. Vmax540
On a side note... I always make the tire shop put the wheel weights on the inside of the rim. No more corrosion on the outside of wheels and and have never had a balance issue !
itzed
I've had this problem before on the Legacy wheels. There are tires with better and worse beads as well. The original tires held air very well, others have not. I bought my current Eagle GTs specifically because they have a nice bead and they have held air very well also. JBear
I've heard it's a common problem with Subaru wheels. It was really pissing me off for awhile, switching to nitrogen seems to have cleared it up.
