Kodax
So I was driving home tonight and suddenly out of nowhere, I heard clunking sound (like empty cans rolling under my car). It appears from the rear of the car and my first thoughts were my sway bars since I just installed new sway bars + bilstein struts + swift springs + new SpecB top hats. But it appears, nothing seems to be loose. The funny bit is that it comes and go. I tried driving around for extra 15 minutes when I got home, I couldn't recreate the sound. It seem to just come out of nowhere and it happened twice. Any thoughts?

Kodax
Tighten your endlinks. Those were my initial thoughts. I will give it a try. Thanks!
NWSPECB
Mine has been doing this for a while too (in the front end though and just on the driver side) and getting worse and worse. Now it is pretty much always there. I plan to go through everything up there this weekend. I was thinking endlinks as well so that is where I will be starting. Will update you if/when I figure out what it is.
mazdaslo
what type of endlinks did you install, I have the cobb solid beauties, and boy howdy do they make a racket if they are not freshly lubed
LegacyKid5
+1 for checking the endlinks, had a similar noise in the front end of my car. Endlinks were shot, but I was also told you get a similar noise if they are loose at all.
Kodax
I am still running stock endlinks, I will definitely give it a try.
AZP Installs
I would check your rear sway bar for any marks. We've seen a few LGTs that when lowered, the sway bar hits the control arm or something else in the area and creates the clunk. Endlinks definitely could be the issue but with stockers I dont know what would cause the noise. -Jake http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/91072632.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/133406601.jpg http://upload.pbase.com/image/137566671.jpg Call directly for your best Whiteline Price! | We also carry almost every manufacturer now, so before you buy parts call us. chutrain
Check the top nut. Next, make sure the endlinks are tightened. You should really upgrade the stock ones as they will eventually break due to the upgraded bars. Check if there is any contact of bar to control arm and exhaust. Did you install stout mounts for the rear? If you did I will check the bolts that thread through the subframe. They take a lot of torque, and I was able to track my clunking down to this. I had to use a extension on my ratchet to get enough leverage to torque down.
mmmmspecb
i get a similar clunking from the front drivers side right after the car starts moving. It only happens when the car is cold though and I can't recreate it after it warms up. It almost sounds like somebody is hitting my firewall with a rubber mallet right after the car moves. It's weird.

Sorry but what do you mean by " with stockers I dont know what would cause the noise"? Check the top nut. Next, make sure the endlinks are tightened. I had to use a extension on my ratchet to get enough leverage to torque down. I checked the top nut this morning and it seems to be all tight. I have my parts professionally installed, they told me that everything is torqued to specification. I also have been told by that the stock endlinks should last for a long reasonable period of time. Maybe I should upgrade it. Any recommendations?

NWSPECB
Any word on this? I tightened my endlinks up and it went away for a bit but is slowly coming back. So I got some new endlinks coming. Hopefully my endlinks are just shot.
bmx045
nws, we're about at the point where we'll need lca bushings. mine started to clunk not too long ago and look terrible (black rub marks on the bushing center)
NWSPECB
That was my next thought. If these endlinks aren't the issue that's where I will be looking next. Depending on tax return ill probably do a good majority of the bushings anyways.
2furious
I got a similar issue. It clunks sometime really bad. I had a shop check today and they tightened the endlinks bolts. I was told it seems like the endlinks gone bad. I got Perrin 25 mm both front and end and used the Perrin endlinks in the front and AVO adjustable in the back. It's been about 2 years. Do you guys think the Perrin front links shot? From Desert to Rocky to SLC !!!
