So is the only thing securing the pump outlet to the filter housing, the lower bucket? Is this durable enough to keep 60-70psi sealed long term?
Just thought I'd ask, because I was under the impression that there was some clamping involved in keeping the pump locked into the fuel filter inlet...
Nice work John, and kudos to you & your crew for not trying to keep this a secret any longer!

the thing is IN there and the bottom cup presses it in pretty hard
i cant see any otherway to clamp that bugger in there
plus the housing rests on the floor of the tanks pressed against the springs and the top
seems like itll hold well *shrug*
just thought i would deshroud the mystery

Cool stuff! Thanks for sharing!
It's great to see respected tuners/shops sharing technical knowledge for the benefit of the community at-large! Thumbs-up!

Have you monitored your fuel pressure?
I would have tried this route but at the time figured those little nodules inside the tube that the walbro outlet slips into would hit.
Interesting.

jon,
thanks for semi-devulging our fuel pump assy secret. But since its already semi-out, i might as well chime in to hopefully make people understand that this needs to be done properly
The 0-ring will definitely need to be changed as jon says in #13 to ensure there is no pressure loss, this would manifest itself most likely when you turn the inginition on and immediately try to start car, it would not, unless you prime the pump fully
in #15, can you elaborate how you reinstall or replace the bottom filter?
#15 is VERY important as you said the bottom pump filter presses hard against the bottom bucket, my concern here just as MTS pointed out, is loss of fuel pressure there.
Thanks jon

im not trying to be incindiary here but YOUR secret?
This has nothing to do with you guys. After the weekend i had w georges car needing this i decided to rip mine apart and see what happens. I has nothing to do with you
nor is it a PLTEK exclusive idea, Harman motive have tried and MTS have tried.
i simply made it work for me. Im sory if that offends you or has hurt your feelings in some way, but now you can sell MORE of the ones you do because people KNOW how and why it works ! I dont plan on selling this, it was merely informational
As for step #15 you just pop it oof the old one and pop back on the walboro
very easy, i tuned my car with the 18G and has PLENTY of fuel up top on stock inj
where on a 20 g the week before i had NO fuel even with modded injectors
thanks for the help on the O- Ring
maybe we can engineer a even better way!
