I have read that the USB port on the new legacy will not let you change folders or playlist while driving. Can anyone confirm this to be true. I am about ready to buy this car. Not a deal breaker by any means of course but will make using the Ipod not much better than plugging it into an aux jack.

Yeah it's hard to find info on this. I am going to buy a 3.6 R Outback to replace my Legacy 2.5 wagon, and the salesman, someone I greatly respect and who has sold me two cars previously, called the media hub "useless".
All I could find elsewhere on the net was this, from subarupartswarehouse.com:
• 2010 Subaru Legacy Outback Subaru Parts Accessories Media Hub, code E0A, part number H621SAJ200, allows extensive control of your iPod through the head unit and steering wheel controls, (if equipped), of the Legacy and Outback. Also supports play of most USB-equipped media storage devices.
Now that's kind of vague: what is "extensive" control? Is it folder browsing, etc? Who knows?

To answer my own question. Went to try the Legacy out again and brought my Ipod along. The USB connection is nothing more than a glorified AUX. I guess it will charge your Ipod but locks your Ipod to where you can not do anything with it when it is pluged in. And no readout other than track number. Reallly disapointed.

The media hub is somewhat like the iPod interface from last year. It has some improvements to the software and adds support for USB Mass storage devices. It doesn't lock out anything while driving. Also works with SAT radio.
Whats in the cars with navigation is something else. Not sure how that one works.

i own a 2.5i
ipod integration lets you switch songs from the steering wheel and change volume, thats about it
to clarify ....you cannot switch playlists while it is connected, to switch playlists you have to disconnect the ipod and then change the playlist from your ipod play a song then reattach it via USB
you can change the readout using the car stereo, i changed my readout to title of the song, you can also choose genre artist and track number
IMO the best remedy is to create a playlist specifically for driving, which is what i did and people love it
and yes it does in fact charge the ipod
in a nutshell its an AUX input with the ability to change volume and change songs within one playlist

You can search through playlists, artists, songs and albums. The preset buttons are used to select these, then search.

It most definitely allows browsing. I'm using a 1st gen Touch and a 4th Gen nano and they work fine. I am able to browse by playlist, artist, album.
The website finally up...

I just picked up the 2010 GT last night, and the Nav locks out a lot of things while vehicle is in motion. (Not that I was playing with it in motion ) As far as the iPod, I haven't tried yet. My buddie has the Zune HD. The Nav says it supports bluetooth Media, so maybe it'll sync with that? doubt it, but worth a try.

without nav you can browse while driving using the presets
with nav you are locked out from changing anything while driving other than the track within the playlist.
