Stang70Fastback
So I've run into a small issue with the installation of my newly-acquired tow bar. It appears as though it is a stock SUBARU tow bar. However, it appears as though my car does not have two of the required four mounting points for this bar...? You can see the vertical mounting location sticking up in the photo. My car has holes for those two points. However, the horizontal plate (specifically, the smaller hole on that plate) seems to have no corresponding point on the car for me to bolt it to. The only possibilities appear to be that either your car had to have a "tow-ready" package from the factory, or that perhaps we didn't quite grab ALL the parts to the tow bar, and we need to go back and get two more brackets or something... (they are closed on weekends, so I can't go back and look.) Is anyone here familiar with this sort of thing who might be able to shed some light on my issue??? TexasLegacy2.5GT
I think you ARE missing the brackets. What year legacy did you remove it from? Is it the same year as yours?
Stang70Fastback
It came off a 99 (so yes, the same as my car.) I guess we weren't paying attention...? There is NO WAY it bolts to the car the way it sits now. Even if I were to get brackets, at least looking under the right side of my car I'm having a lot of trouble understanding where the hell anything else could possibly bolt. I guess I'll have to head back there on Monday and figure out what the hell I am missing...
TexasLegacy2.5GT
IIRC, my hitch had brackets. The sedan BD underside is a little different as I understand it. I had to drop the charcoal box of the muffler just a bit to get my hitch in there properly. It was for of a PITA for me. Have you looked into the harness yet? I believer John Egg has done this job specifically on a BG before. Look at my thead and he talks specifics. Or you could just PM the man.

TexasLegacy2.5GT
Here was mine before I put it on: http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Rubenjc111/21567FC3.jpg There is so much more length from the hitch arms in both of these Photos compared to your hitch. It's almost like you left 1/2 the hitch at the pick and pull!!
Stang70Fastback
Looking at the one you posted, it looks like those additional arms are separately bolted to the hitch that I have. Perhaps that is my issue...
TexasLegacy2.5GT
Yes, I think you left both right and left arms actually on the salvaged car. Our hitch's are one piece. But, looking at the big picture....yours would be much more easy to remove then either of the ones we have because the bolts go waaaaaay up high on the frame. You could just take on/off your hitch with ease.
