When my LGT was picked up upon delivery I noticed

right from the get-go that it slightly pulled to the

right (not major) and that the steering wheel was slightly

off center when driving perfectly straight.

I took the car into the dealer and 20 minutes or so later

they returned it to me saying they "straightened" the steering wheel

a bit, and that on a drive the car felt "normal" and that all LGT's

will ever so slightly drift to the right.

My steering wheel did look like it had been straightened a bit

but was still like 1/8th inch off center (to the right) when driving perfectly straight.

The other day, I took it in again to once again have this taken care of.

(I know 1/8th inch off center isn't that big of a deal, but it's a pet peeve).

They had to send the car out to an alignment place to adjust.

Upon getting the car back, I noticed it does track straighter now and

doesn't feel like I'll drift to the right when I let go of the wheel.

However, now my steering wheel is tilted to the left ever so slightly

when driving straight!!! Again, MAYBE 1/8th of an inch.

So, my question is....is it possible to have them straighten the steering

wheel WITHOUT having to do a whole new alignment.

When I asked they said they would have to align it, but the first time

I was there, they did it in the shop in a matter of minutes without

having to send the car out.

And the poll question: Is your steering wheel perfectly straight when

driving down a smooth, level, straight road....or does is it off center?

My car was drifting right. Chalk it up to caster being off L to R. It's all better now, after six months of bitching, the dealer finally checked the alignment after telling me previously they had. Frustrating, to have a dealer think you will just forget about the fact a brand new car changes lanes on it's own.

My steering wheel was offset, fixed by dealer. According to the report, the alignment was not off, and was not adjusted to fix the off center steering wheel. I don't know what was done to fix the off center steering wheel, but from my experience, it would seem that re-aligning isn't necessary to straighten the steering wheel. After the fix, my steering wheel is perfectly straight.

Mine steering wheel was/is straight but felt the back end was ALWAYS stepping out so had it checked. The fronts were pointing to the left, the rears the opposite, so the Scoob was actually been dragged down the road. Nice setup Subaru. So I had it fixed by Bridgestone and took the evidence to Subaru. "Oh that wouldnt have happend here". I thought as much, hence I got it done off site.

Adam.
