Slotted DBA standard vs. centric blanks

Drogos

Recommended Posts

I have used centric on the track and they were surprisingly good especially for the price. I had no issue with bite, fading, warping etc. This was with a slower car. As my speed on the track increases.... would I benefit from DBA standard rotors that are 2x the price?

Are you getting paid to race?

If not, then probably not worth it.

no I am not paid to race but following that logic I should not care to upgrade pads nor rotors and most of all tires since these are even more expensive. Why bleeding brakes with fresh, decent fluid if I do it just for fun. All I am trying to figure out is if $60 extra per rotor will render any better performance. It's not a huge investment over standard centric rotors so if $200 extra per set will render slightly better thermal resistance and off gasing (therm that I always regarded as marketing BS ) maybe it's worth it. Hopefully someone used both (blanks and slotted ) on similar pads and can give a real life feedback.

I use DBA on my LGT and my Durango. LGT brakes from 140+mph and Durango has them paired with a Wilwood BBK that will drag my 5000lb airstream to stop from speed even without trailer brakes. The BAER rotors that were suggested (by the mfr) CRACKED under similar conditions.

If you are not going to get your rotors GLOWING, don't spend the money.

I've used both slotted and blank rotors. Spend the extra $200 on other mods.

I would not go with EBC pads. I've had terrible experiences in every interaction with them.

I went with Stoptechs for my Brembos.

I used dba 4000s and centrics on track. The dba lasted about 10% longer for >50% cost. Not worth it in my opinion.

I heard the same thing, even tho I never wanted to give the EBC's a try.

well, you had terrible and I had great experiance...so that's what I am sticking with. Other than generic OEM stuff I have only tried hawks in the past and they don't even touch EBC in terms of craftsmanship, quality and performance....but that's just my opinion. EBC yellows when bedded in properly are good on the street, great on the track, no fading, no noise. They do wear like crazy and they do dust like crazy but that's the trade off. Very easy on rotors too. Great progressive feel on the track with nice initial bite. Not cheap but when performance is a priority for me they do the job and some. I can drive with them to the track and not worry about rear ending someone because they were cold.

  • 3 weeks later...
just order through amazon. Hate to say that but non of our vendors can match their price

Just remember this when you read a post by a knowledgeable vendor on here that YOU didn't help support them. Once they are all gone, see if Amazon comes on here and helps out with good knowledgeable posts.....

It is pretty sad that no matter what folks buy from cheapo online places and don't care about any kind of customer support!

seriously....!?!?! You will play this card here? I am always researching any part purchase with forum vendors first!!!! I respect small business and independent vendors. I will buy from them if they can match the price or even if it is slightly higher. Not when it's almost $50 higher per set because I have 2 kids and mortgage to SUPPORT. Also the last time I checked you didn't have anything listed under ROTORS on your website so what exactly is your problem?

It is in our signature "Call directly as We carry almost every manufacturer now, so before you buy parts call us."

So you want us to price match AND give advice... It all costs money, Amazon doesn't participate here and give advice so they save $50/set of rotors. That's all I am saying.

Well, maybe clean up your signature a little so people could actually notice that. I hear you and I agree but again at the end of the day I bought turbo econobox with almost 80k miles on it not because I shit cash. Nor have I bought cheap made in china rotors because I have so much money to spend on it. Expecting me to pay $50 extra because you support this forum is little to much. It's an open forum. You give advise and participate mainly to promote your business I assume so that part worked I guess .....I did check your www, nothing there, moved on. My bad I haven't read your signature......Did ask other vendors, price was much higher went with amazon and being small business owner myself it felt like shit but they just make it to easy for you. Price kills everything out there, it takes 3 clicks to order and with prime shipping no extra cost to get it delivered within 2 days. I can promise you one thing though. Once my business picks up and I am making 6 figures net income I will make sport out of supporting you and the rest of our vendors...no matter the price ...how's that?

Amazon prices have nothing to do with lack of support,

Understood. As a small business owner, you probably realize how frustrating it can be. We try to be as proactive on the forums both for business but also because we are owners and enthusiasts. No worries though.
