maddoc
Looking to see some amp rack set ups in the sedan...specifically ones that don't require any kind of real drilling or anything like that... Has anyone mounted them under the rear deck?
NSFW
This is in a wagon, but I think sedans have a very similar spare tire well... http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z151/Legacy_NSFW/Rack1.jpg ...and there's no amp on it yet, but I'll get to that. I built the shelf from 1/4" high density polyethylene (HDPE), attached to couple of 3/4" slabs of HDPE that are connected with a hinge. There are angled wedges of 3/4 HDPE below the thumbscrews, to support those corners. Working with HDPE is a lot like working with wood, but without splinters. And drilling holes creates confetti instead of dust. And you can't use glue, it just won't stick. I drilled two holes into the car, for the screws at the front, and one more hole for each of the wedges in the rear corners. Hopefully that doesn't constitute "real" drilling. And of course I drilled a lot of holes in the 3/4 HDPE slabs to mount that big hinge. There are also several screws coming up from the bottom, holding the big panel to the vertical slab. But those are holes in plastic, not holes in the car, so they definitely don't count.

It is by no means complete, but the rack is made with 1/16" square tubing held in place with the bolt that used to hold the spare tire. The rack holds both the sub and 4-channel amps, distribution blocks, fuse blocks, and two stinger 600 watt batteries.

TehRicer
Some of you may have seen this on Diyma. Great inspiration from Neil. I wouldn't take any pride taking anyone else's work, but there's only so much you can do w/ an amplifier rack. I'll be doing something similiar, however w/ a twist. I don't like the "blur" LED's give off, so I'll be using 0-5mW lasers. It should give it a cleaner finish. I'm more into the OEM look (functionality guy), so I'll be doing a false floor. Here's the twist, ..push down on the false floor & UP comes the amplifiers. -Enable the user easy access to settings. Whole interior is stripped out. I have over 250 pics encounting! jdawg81
I'd like to see more pics of your setup if you have some http://legacygt.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=1227&pictureid=7014 one of the batteries and two of the fuse blocks http://legacygt.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=1227&pictureid=7019 http://legacygt.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=1227&pictureid=7018 http://legacygt.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=1227&pictureid=7016 4 10" RF P2s at a slight downward angle, towards the spare tire well. One reason is it gives the sound waves more time to mature before bouncing off the rear hatch and going into the rest of the cabin. Still not done, but it was expected that it would take a while to get done (time constraints of my availability and availability of my car, since its a DD)

jdawg81
Thanks. Still have to finish the facade for the rear, molding for the screen and info computer up front, and add another set of components for the front stage
utc_pyro
http://i.imgur.com/plwGM.jpg The rack can hold up to four amps plus the MS8 (3 amps installed), plus room for the x-overs if that plate is moved toward the top. It sits above the spare tire and the trunk floor cover still fully closes, so no functionality of the car is lost.
