Richard B.
i based my purchase decision almost 2 years ago mainly based on wet weather performace. i see that decision is still the best tire decision i have made. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/chartDisplay.jsp?ttid=106 http://www.tirerack.com/images/tires/tests/bfg_gForce_SuperSport_AS/chart3.gif i lose very little performance in he dry. to max that you should probably be on the track anyways. yeah. i have the 960 a/s. str8dwn
Glad to hear it. I'm about to buy a full set. How's the highway noise? How many miles have you put on them? At $230 a piece, I need them to last.

At $230 a piece, I need them to last. noise is fine. i hear more wind, engine, and fan vants noise more than anything. about 25k miles and i expect to do the advertised 40k. 230? iirc i paid 160 each at discount tire. Richard B.
^How are they in the snow? fine. i live in WA so tons of snow never happens around my parts. but they haven't failed me. i haven't ended up in a ditch. i did floor it whiel stopped in thick snow and spun the tires in place. turned the si drive to i and it crawled out with east. it's no snow tire but it does what it needs to do. Richard B.
A/S = Avoid Snow for the occasional snow fall like here in my area it's fine. even a few inches are fine. 5+ i would get snow tires and for 3 month seasonal snow as well. also... you will be very hard pressed to find the same wet traction out of a dedicated summer. let alone any other tire out there. with the a/s tires you only lose a very small amount of ultimate dry traction. to me a great uhp a/s means i buy 1 set of tires and am done. it doesn't work for everyone i understand that. jim1969
From January http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/testDisplay.jsp?ttid=102 F1 A/S is best in cold/snow. From last September. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/testDisplay.jsp?ttid=102 F1 A/S was second. I wonder why all the differences on the same tire when it was against alot of the same. Plus, last september's results should be temperature-wise similar to the most recent results.

rjundi
^How are they in the snow? I have them in 205/55/16 on my WRX and love them for all conditions except snow. They are useable in the snow and ice but you really just have to take it easy in these conditions. I normally avoid those conditions but had to drive in a substantial snow dump from Jay Peak(vt near CA border) to Seacoast NH last winer. The roads were covered with anything like 4" of loose snow pack to 8"+ deep in the notches. I did fine.

PGT
you will be very hard pressed to find the same wet traction out of a dedicated summer. let alone any other tire out there. with the a/s tires you only lose a very small amount of ultimate dry traction. actually, I've yet to see wet performance tested to compare an A/S and a summer tire (would be interesting). Many summer tires are engineered for excellent wet performance (latest Goodyears for example) while others are engineered for avg wet performance to offer killer dry traction (Azenis, RE01R etc). Saying that an A/S performs as well as a summer tire in the dry is, well, not accurate. It's the compound that is the differentiating factor...A/S tires have to have a wider temp range and therefore don't deal with heat as well as a summer tire. PGT
perhaps I'm missing the page on Tire Rack where they show lateral G measurements. All I see is scores relative to a '10'. Eagle F1 Asymetric: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/testDisplay.jsp?ttid=101 Bridgestone 960 A/S: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/testDisplay.jsp?ttid=106 Is there a graph or page that shows empirical data in wet performance? Otherwise, I showed you one example of something better (out of one attempt to do so).
Richard B.
like this... http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/chartDisplay.jsp?ttid=101 see how those comparative summers lose out to the 960 in the wet? you may have found 1 tire that actually outperforms it while it would be useless in the winter and i get to run my 960's without buying extra tries/rims. as i said. the 960 lose very very litle int he dry and lose nothing int he wet and actually outperforms 95% of the tires out there in the wet. the only weak spot for me is that i wish for a stiffer sidewall. not like it's a wet noodle or anything. for me living in WA i would sacrifice total dry traction for a top notch wet traction. i am happy with the tires and have 25k miles on them now. anyways... http://www.tirerack.com/images/tires/tests/gy_eagle_f1_asy_rd/chart3.gif http://www.tirerack.com/images/tires/tests/bfg_gForce_SuperSport_AS/chart3.gif http://www.tirerack.com/images/tires/tests/gy_eagle_f1_asy_rd/chart4.gif http://www.tirerack.com/images/tires/tests/bfg_gForce_SuperSport_AS/chart4.gif http://www.tirerack.com/images/tires/tests/gy_eagle_f1_asy_rd/chart5.gif http://www.tirerack.com/images/tires/tests/bfg_gForce_SuperSport_AS/chart5.gif not too bad for an all season eh?
