Resonator 3" for the Bosal CBE

Hey guys,

 

Im getting a slight spitting back fire when Im on the freeway and pushing my Bosal CBE. I was recommended to put a resonator on there and it would solve all my issues.

 

Can you guys recommend a nice 3" resonator that you like and will keep the exhaust performing and sounding the best it can?

vibrant or magnaflow

cool.. is there a certain magnaflow 3" you guys recommend? my guy said it couldnt be too big or i wouldnt have as much clearance underneath

i found these two.. one is an oval muffler from magnaflow

and the other a cylinder style resonator

which do you guys think is better for performance and sound?

likely the lower one, but all depends on how much noise you are trying to cut down on.

im trying to cut down freeway drone.. do you recommend the muffler style or just resonator?

for just cutting down on highway drone, I'd say a resonator would be what you're looking for. A 3rd muffler would work well for cutting down drone as well as lowering the whole volume level significantly.

I imagine this Vibrant resonator would do the job nicely, it would allow you to keep exhaust flow and the sound you want, but it should cut down on the drone you are experiencing.

Resonator won't work as well as an extra muffler to cut the drone. I put in an extra oval muffler from Magnaflow and it really did the trick . My Magnaflow CBE was too much drone until I did this. Others have done this as well . It will fit in the third cat area nicely. There is a thread on this very subject , will try to find it.

I was about to get that 12" resonator.

But I want to get something that makes a difference in the freeway drone, not just a minor freq change

I've still got all the performance of 3" straight through from the turbo. And no more drone.

 

It still has rumble but not as much unfort. , but no drone in high gear and low rpm. So I'm happy

Thats excellent.Its One mod that really rought a smile to my face as well. No drone and you still get some rumble. Little to no loss in power/backpressure.

Any chance you can post a picture of how this was mounted? I have a Cobb TBE and want to get rid of the highway drone.
